Excellent products, supports latest television sets such as LG OELD G! which operates at 120Hrz,
Good visual instruction for easy hookup.
Since I have it only for couple weeks I did not get a chance to learn more about this receiver.

The sound quality is your typical great Yamaha sound signature, and is actually much better than my old, 15 year old Yamaha receiver. However this is my second unit with this model and I'm getting the same problem with the power supply.
For the first unit I sent to Yamaha for repair, it was taking a long time for them to get the replacement part, they decided to purchase me a brand new unit supposedly with the latest manufacturing parts even with the new HDMI board.
However the second unit is exhibiting the same symptoms as the first unit before it failed. the power supply is starting to rattle / vibrate, that's very noticeable especially on quite scenes.
I hope Yamaha resolves this issue in their future models.

This is our SECOND Yamaha Receiver. Our old one was OLD and finally after almost 20 years has gone to greener pastures. We are pleased with the new one. Yamaha DOES build nice equipment.

Didn’t expect it to sound as good as my nearly twenty year old RX-V650(that is still going strong), but was pleasantly surprised. Equally surprised when it burned up after 2 1/2 months. Yamaha’s idea of customer service was a list of certified repair locations (nearest is two hours away) I could drop off at. I could certainly understand that after maybe six months, but less than three months in is aggravating to say the least. I’ve seen other similar stories here. Guess I should’ve read the reviews instead relying on my own blind brand loyalty.

I have owned multiple receivers in my life, and this one is the worst. The navigation is not intuitive at all, so using it is not easy. Once I set it up, I expected the settings to stick. No such luck. I have to modify settings every time I turn it on, which is annoying. The sound quality is great. I would not recommend buying this receiver.

Great device but bricked after a firmware update and Yamaha offered no solution besides unknown cost for repair. So now I have a $500 paper weight, DO NOT BUY
