No, I would not recommend this to a friendBrand response from Ring
Posted .Hello Front,
Thank you for taking the time to share your Ring Floodlight experience with us. We understand the importance of having the batteries last in your home’s environment, so these support calls are not necessary. Rest assured, we are here to provide you with information to resolve your concern.
To get the most life out of your batteries, Ring recommends at least three to four hours of direct sunlight, depending on your usage. Make sure there are no obstructions that could cast a shadow on your solar power device, such as an extended roof, tree branches, or bushes. If your installation area is frequently very cloudy or gets a lot of rain or snow, this could limit the amount of sunlight that your solar power device receives.
Here is a helpful article that elaborates on some factors that could be causing the unnecessary battery drainage: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041789191-Troubleshooting-Unexpected-Battery-Drain-in-Ring-Solar-Smart-Lights. Customers can expect about a year of battery life when they keep the brightness at 50% and have the lights activate in 30 second intervals.
We invite you to reach out at https://community.ring.com/if any additional information is needed regarding the Floodlight. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences with Ring.
Thank you, Jamila with Ring.

Great solar floodlight but battery needs work
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So much better than the stupid wall floodlight, which I hoped so much it would work. The only issue I have is with battery life. I wish it would last longer. And if you have any foggy or rainy days, it gets no charge and dies within a day. The good thing is that you can put a 2nd rechargeable battery inside so it will last longer. Let’s see how that works out.

Very Bright Floodlight!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really bright floodlight and it’s motion detector works great! Love the alerts I get on my Ring app! I have a majority of all the products Ring has put out. Excellent in my opinion. Works great and love the solar power! Never have to recharge the battery pack ever!

Great light
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for my parents. I first bought them the Ring Doorbell. And they bought other ring products so they loved this item. Gives you alerts when its triggered by motion. Definitely recommend the Solar panel for it. Havent changed the battery yet and its close to being a year with 1 charge inside the house and just the solar charging it

Q: Questioncan you use the app to get the light to stay on for an hour or so for like a party or is it just motion sensored for 30 seconds to a minute on and off?
Asked by ali.
- A:Answer Hello ali, Great question! Yes, you are able to manually toggle on the Ring Smart Floodlight within the Ring app. Light Schedules are also a feature in your Ring App that allow you to have control over the timeframe of your Ring Smart Lighting schedules. With Light Schedules, you can set separate schedules such as morning and night or utilize the built-in Dusk to Dawn to have your lights illuminated at a low lumen level at daybreak and sunset.
