It sure was something
I'll admit, this one could've used a bit more of insanity. Bruno is a horror god, and his films always interest and entertain. This one entertains, but it's not quite as high on the whack-o-meter as Night of the Zombies or Shocking Dark. Fun, still. Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed the blatant rip-off of Predator and Robocop on Philippines acid. I put Robowar somewhere in the middle of Bruno's other masterpieces. I highly recommend it, regardless. I consider it the last gasp of Italian cinema, and thank heavens for it. Just be ready for a lot of stalling among scenes of "what the?" and "wow, what?"
Lets make it clear: THIS is 100% a Predator ripoff, scenes and lines are lifted directly from that action classic. However, when ripoffs are done by the Italian ripoff master Bruno Mattei and written by Claudio Fragasso, the results is nothing short of spectacular. This is the perfect movie to watch with some friends while having some beers. Cheesy lines, bad acting, bad action. This is THE so bad is good movie. Recommended.
