Nice upgrade from my previous stick
|Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5This stick takes a while to set up. Hopefully your a roku regular because its all done on a roku site. Its still setting up after 10 minutes of downloading and I have a blazing fast connection/router/etc. I think they could and should have done some of this at the factory. Its auto sensing/connecting to your tv was instant. Didnt have to do a thing. Power and volume is great but on this they even added a mute button. Wish it worked on people, 1 in particular. Anyways its done uploading and setting up. Lots of new themes, last 1 had maybe a couple. Also we can change closed caption size, style, color, opacity, background color and opacity and the window. I only use it on reply or when the mute button doesnt work if you know what I mean but its nice to not have to replay more because I cant read it. Lots of new stuff, certainly worth the $50 they charge, i should have got 2 when it was on sale for 1/2 of that. I got this for a room where 1 had gone bad but have to use it in my tv room because that 1 just went bad. What the heck roku. A few years, ok maybe 10 but still. This one comes with a remote long range wireless reciever and an extension usb. If you need an extention hdmi they will send you 1 free. So either get this 1 or the ultra, dont mess around with the less expensive 1s, its only a few bucks. Also remeber these can go bad so dont buy it used. Watch model #s too because they change as the time goes by but the name can stay the same. Good luck.

the possibilities

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Chose the Roku because a friend has two shows on a channel that is only on Roku (OSI 74 - check it out). Very pleased with it. I haven't subscribed to any of the paid services, including Disney +, but may down the road. Even with just the free services, it offers a myriad of choices. Don't miss cable a bit!

I love Roku
|Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Do I love my Roku! It functions properly each time I use it. I love that the remote.has a Netflix button and that they now offer HBO, Peacok, Tubi apps. I love that they send you a free extender if your HDMI outlet isn’t accessible. When I got it, it worked like a charm! I love the little beep It makes with each selection change. I love that I could order it for free shipping because I set up curbside pick up.

Streaming Stick+ is a value-filled unitk
|Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Features
Quality3 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use3 out of 5Pros mentioned:Ease of use, Price, RemotePRO: Inexpensive. PRO: Quick & easy to setup with On-screen setup menus, easy to follow. PRO: All needed cabling provided. ( a special extender connector cable is offered from ROKU upon request.) PRO: The remote self-pairs to your WI-FI after batteries (included) are installed. PRO: Remote does have voice activation and works with Alexa. CON: Remote feels cheap & lack of texturing gives it a slippery feel and it is very small (about 1/2 size of usual remote); I had trouble trying NOT to let it slide out of my hand during setup. CON: Side mounted mute & volume buttons are too easy to hit when grasping the unit. Overall, you get what you pay for. The price is reasonable when considering the fact that ROKU does not have a monthly subscription fee. And except for what premium accesses the user chooses to sign up for beyond the thousands of free-access programs, there are no other charges.

Q: QuestionWhy is the roku streaming plus better
Asked by Deadmanwalking.
- A:Answer There are 3 primary options available. The Roku Streaming Stick, Roku SS Plus, and Roku Ultra, with Ultra being the "best". The basic Roku Stick offers 1080 HD picture and has a smaller receiving range. While it still may receive a signal anywhere you place it in your home, it may be limited or spotty if say, you're placing it far away from your internet source. The other downside, (from what I'm told,) is the remote needs a more direct "line of sight" to register your inputs. Roku SS Plus features 4K picture with HDR. If you own a 4K TV, this is truly your option. Even if you don't and still use a 2K (1080) TV, this WILL still work, and will auto-detect your TV settings during setup. Also, its receiver is powered, so it will pick up your internet signal much better. Roku SS Ultra has all the features of the Plus, but includes an SD card slot and an ethernet port so you can connect directly to your internet, rather than via wifi. We recently began cutting cable, purchasing a TCL Roku TV, as well as a Roku SS Plus for my mother's apartment in our home. We spent a bunch of time ensuring that (with the purchase of the Roku TV included,) the money was well-spent. The TV is an EXCELLENT value, and when it comes to the Roku SS Plus, it was also an excellent purchase. My mother's TV is a 1080, and during setup, the stick detected it and offered settings to choose from, so compatibility is excellent. We've had this for a few weeks now, and there's been no issues. If you own or plan on owning a 4K TV, or if you have areas in your home where the wifi signal is not consistent, the Roku SS Plus is an excellent choice.

Q: QuestionHow long is the power cord for this device? The tv in my bedroom sits up high and I want to be sure the cord will reach the plug with no extension cord having to be used. Thanks!
Asked by Holly.
- A:Answer The roku comes with a short cord that allows it to be powered by the tv and a longer one approx. 4 feet for plugging into an outlet.

Q: QuestionCan I watch the local news and other local channels (i.e., with the regular antennae)?
Asked by krasy6.
- A:Answer Yes. Roku has an amazing app that lets you watch local news from all over the country. Usually two local channels per major market.

Q: QuestionI have a Samsung TV (not a Smart TV) and was wondering how to connect the Streaming Stick to it. Do I need to purchase a special connecting cord (maybe similar to the HDMI) in addition to the Stick and Remote?
Asked by LarryMac.
- A:Answer No, it is all included
Answered by JimO
Q: QuestionDoes this plug into the hdmi or usb port on tv's?
Asked by Bud.
- A:Answer You can plug the Roku Streaming Stick+ directly into your TV's HDMI port and connect the power transformer from the Roku to your electrical outlet. If you have an adequately powered USB port on your TV, you can plug the Streaming Stick+ into that and not have to use the power transformer that plugs into an electrical outlet.

Q: Question5947832 vs 5948005?
Asked by Mios.
- A:Answer The 5948005 is $69.99...can handle 4K. The 5947832 is $49.99......can only handle 1080p (not 4K). See comparison - - - https://www.bestbuy.com/site/compare?skus=5948005,5947832&url=%2Fsite%2Froku-streaming-stick-black%2F5948005.p%3FskuId%3D5948005

Q: QuestionWould I be able to use the xfinity stream app with this device? If so, would it be easy to access?
Asked by Mattymomw.
- A:Answer Yes, you can. but it is a little annoying that you can't do "last" or "back" to flip back and forth channels. Also, no number buttons to type in the Channel you want. So you have to browse and search every time you want a new channel.
