A: It will work fine, using a larger pot, or pan, on a smaller cooking area. We did that all the time when we had our old stove, with the electric burners. There is no difference now, with these burners. We have a huge frying pan that is larger than the largest size burner, and the bottom of the pan heats uniformly to cook. You just shouldn't use a smaller pot on a larger area....
