      Best TV Purchase Made Yet

Purchased a 55 inch NU 8500 ($899) after I had purchased the last year version of a 65 inch MU8000 ($999) due to the One Connect that came with the 2017 Models (and which really doesn't work for a Wall Mount installation). The NU8500 is a great TV and I am very impressed by the picture quality, the well above average sound from the speakers and the super ease of use of the One Remote. I also have a LG UJ6300 and a TCL 4 Series in my house but the NU8500 really beats them all and on almost every level. If you are a cord cutter and look for a great picture using for example SLING; the TV offers a much better picture than my other two TV's. It is super sharp and crisp and I never had a buffer lag streaming a movie or watching SLING. When watching Cable TV connected via 2.2 HDMI the picture is like a dream and I love watching sports due to the 240 Hz refresh rate. The speakers have 3 settings and offer sufficient volume for my need even when turning it up watch Fast&Furious. I have a Samsung Soundbar (MS 650) and the sound is a little better but only when needed for a larger room. The One Remote is 100% better than the LG remote and also works better than a Roku remote as it can control more external devices which the Roku remote lacks. For TV only, the Roku system is is incredible easy to use. As far as HDR; I set my TV to Auto HDR and as far as I am concerned it is an amazing picture. The rest of the technical stuff is all stuff we can play with but makes little difference for most users (like a gaming input lag of 7.5 vs 8.0). HDR 10 and Hybrid Log Gamma are a must have specially when you watch broadcast TV; so it checked all the boxes. I purchased it as I wasn't ready to go over $1200 on a entry level Samsung QF6 Series and at the store; but to me this TV looked and felt better than comparable Vizio and Sony TV's. The only negative was the wall installation. You will need 45 or 50mm M8 screws or you will not be able to use the proper mounting hardware when wall mounting it. Overall, we have Samsung, Sony, TCL, LG and Vizio; and between all of them there is something that makes each a little better somewhere. I was looking for a thin profile, an easy to use remote, at a great picture and above average sound. I for sure got that and more. Very happy and will purchase another one to replace the old TCL 4 Series which does have HDR but for every day TV it just doesn't measure up. While my LG has also a good picture; I did have a lot of wifi connection issues which is a well know problem and the remote is horrible. It is also quite bulky with a terrible interface.

Avoid Best Buy and this Samsung TV

I dont usually write reviews but my experience with Best Buy and Samsung TV has been horrible. Let me start by saying I've spent thousands of dollars at best buy over the years. Almost every gadget in my household is from best buy and I planned on buying my new home appliances from best buy as well. Not anymore. I bought this Samsung NU8000 from best buy in July. The sales associates recommended me to buy the NU8000 instead of the cheaper 7000 series. Less then 1 month later, TV all of the sudden became dim. It was too dark too see anything on it. I called Best Buy to ask if they would be able to do anything about it. I was met with a person who simply read the policy of 15 return period and told me they cant do anything about it. Who sells a TV that lasts 1 month? This was my first Samsung TV. I've had LGs for 10 years and no problem. I then called Samsung who said they will send a technician to fix my TV. the first time tech came out, He change my panel, power board but it didnt solve the issue. Then he came the next time the change the main board. This seemed to fix the dimming issue but created alot more issues with my now 2 month old TV. The sound is all screwed up. The TV switch brightness based on scenes. I used the same settings i had before the fix. I called samsung again to get the issue fixed. The contractor texted me for time and when i said I am busy for couple days, they just closed my ticket with them. I was a loyal Best Buy customer for over 10 years. I chose to support them over Amazon but after this experience, I will no longer buy anything from there as there are better options available. I am trying to contact Samsung again to fix the TV. I will never buy a Samsung product as well. I went into best buy trying to buy an LG TV as vie had good experience with them but sales person talked me into buying a Samsung. I would not recommend this TV to anyone. Ig you are spending this much money, I would say spend a little more and get an LG OLED or Sony.

      Suddenly, there came a clicking

As if someone was tapping at my chamber door. On a more serious note, save yourself the trouble. I loved everything about this TV. It includes many features that Samsung’s higher end TVs offer at a fraction of the cost. I, like many others, expected a high quality product from one of the most popular TV brands. I’ve been proven wrong. In two months, I’ve gone through three of these TVs. Three “premium” UHD TVs from a company that prides itself on ensuring better quality control. Every. TV. Had. A. Clicking. Sound. The first TV had issues immediately, the second started in two days, and the third took about a week to show signs. I figured it was some form of thermal expansion, but I’m starting to doubt that theory. It starts when the TV is turned on/off and lasts for roughly half an hour. If I switch to a different source, such as my Apple TV or PS4, it’ll start clicking again despite being on for the last two hours. It’s maddening. However, the scariest part about this entire experience is Samsung customer service. You think Comcast is bad? Well, Samsung said, “hold my beer.” I’ve contacted these guys over fives times, spoken to supervisors, and even escalated this to the CEOs office. Instead of relatable and compassionate representatives, I’ve encountered drones that copy paste the same responses over and over like they’re part of some government psyops operation. For over two months, no one at support has acknowledged this as a manufacturers defect. No one has accepted responsibility or even offered an explanation as to why something like this is occurring. For a company like Samsung, this is embarrassing. Avoid this heartache and go with a different brand. You’ll definitely thank yourself for it.

      Great TV, dislike the remotes

I bought 4 of these 55" TV's to use in a "TV Wall". I hung all the TV's in a 2x2 pattern and then fired them up to configure. The remotes sync Bluetooth with a specific TV and have to be synced initially. Not, one remote works all similar TV's like in the past. So needless the say the pairing mode of all 4 tv's at same time was a mess. So if anyone else is building a TV wall. Fire them up one at a time, sync the remote, and label it. Also all the other tv's have to be unplugged until you have the remotes synced. The remotes communicate via Bluetooth, however power does not. So every time you hit power button on any remote, all TV's fire up or down. Nothing major, just very different and a lot more steps to setup. Also the only plus to the remote is that power is not Bluetooth so the only thing I use the remote for now that they are setup is to turn TV wall on and off. So only one remote is required to do that, not all 4 which I feared would be the case. Other then the remote issue, Picture is great and bezel is super thin which was a requirement for me.

As a previous person wrote this tv has begun making a ticking noise from the rear. Ive owned 5 different samsung tvs all have have been great quality. This one is different.... After about 2 weeks it began making a ticking noise from the back. Usually happens at least three times a minute. At first I gave it the benefit of the doubt thinking it was just the expansion and contraction of parts warming and cooling. Or possibly The plastic on the rear creeking from being wall mounted. It is none of the above this is an audible distraction coming from inside the tv. Of course when I go to call customer service its out of their 15 day return policy by less than a week. And basically said that any other action would just cost me money. What a bad joke when youre paying 1k for a tv you would expect better from best buy and samsung. This will be the last thing I buy from bestbuy and samsung. Beyond aggravating.

I will now have to return 2 of these. The first one had crackling noises from the beginning, but I used Bluetooth headphones to discover I otherwise was very impressed so I exchanged it. 2nd one doesn't look quite as good. Still has an excellent picture with some slight tweaks, but the wired ethernet connection repeatedly disconnects and reconnects every time the cable moves, and it takes a hundred tries to get it to stay connected. Yes I've switched cables. The Samsung TV I bought my dad 3 years ago had the same problem. If not for these issues, I'd give it 4.5*. Many of the negatives in reviews about this TV seem exaggerated. Maybe get the protection plan though as there are too many cheap parts that can go wrong. Why I still recommend it: Even my DVDs look far better than Blu-rays on my beautiful Samsung Plasma ever did. We watch a lot more SD and 1080p content than 4K, and this TV is better suited for it than the Vizio P Series.

I reviewed TV's for 5 months repeatedly before settling on this purchase. I previously had a 2005 Samsung and it finally died after major home theater usage. Let me first say, negative reviews are one person's opinion as well as the positive. I have 100 speed wifi and this tv has ZERO lag with sports using the built in wifi, the color is amazing as well. The remote takes a few days to get use to and is too small for my liking, but it does the job. I recommend using the settings suggested by RTINGS, I haven't done them all yet, but it is your best bet for the best picture. There is a bit of soap opera effect with movies, but I haven't changed those settings yet and I do not notice picture blur or saturation issues viewing from an angle. I went with the NU8000 over the 7100 because of the reviews better lag/mudder response rate and after watching the first weekend of football this is a winner purchase for me, a little pricey compared to other TVs, but you get what you pay for is my philosophy.

I'm not sad I got this TV at all! The size, quality and clarity are exceptional. The packaging was pretty good but the first TV I took home and unpackaged was damaged. However, Best Buy was awesome in switching it out. After unpacking the second one, my only issue was in assembling the TV stand. You have to pop off this black piece to access the area where you screw it in to the stand. No where in the directions does it mention this and the Best Buy guy accidentally figured it out when I took back the first TV. It would've been helpful to have a sticker on the piece or if the instructions had that it there. Otherwise, I love its interface and again the quality and clarity is amazing. It also connected easily to my ps4, the internet and other devices.
