Q: Why isnt this dryer energy star certified and the washer is?
A: Thanks for the question. The DV42H5400EW was introduced in 2014 prior to Energy Star's testing standards for dryers being introduced, though it does feature Sensor Dry cycles that help to save energy. The standards for Washers have been in place for a long time, and Samsung HE Washers are designed to meet and exceed these qualifications. It's worth noting that Samsung Dryer models that have been introduced since the standards have been in place are Energy Star-rated. - Ms. Samsung
