Would you or should you buy One?

Pickup preordered phone on 4/21. Once Best buy was done setting up the phone part, it was up to me to get all the apps, file, contacts, photos, etc off my old phone Note 4 on to new phone s8 Plus. With my old phone having 32gb and my new phone have 64gb there was no worrying about bring able to get everything from my old phone to my new phone. First I used ATT Mobile Transfer app over Wi-Fi but was limited to 16gb for transfer, which of core I had more then that, so unchecked a few things and off it went transferring for old to new over my home WIFI said would take 1 hour and a half, with AC net work only took about 45 minutes. Then ran again to get my videos transferred. But ran into a problem my video alone were over the max 16gb limit. So went with Samsung Smart Switch over WI-FI (note can do USB cable too)which had no limits and took a long time but transferred all my apps, file, contacts, photos, etc to new Phone. Then only took a few minutes for everything to be installed and setup on new phone. This phone is fast, so much faster then my Note 4. Now looking and the size of the phone the s8 plus is just as tall but not as wide compared to my Note 4. But I found if so much easer to use with one hand due to the narrow body. Battery life has been very good up at 4 am and is now almost 11 am and at 71%, now I have not been using it every minute since I work up but I have been collecting game rewards every hour or so and playing a few other games between collecting rewards. Talked on Phone for about 40 minutes and no problems, clear sound and not dropped while driving about 20 miles across town. So after only one day I would recommend the you should by One! With the monthly program service that ATT does it is affordable for most. Thank you for reading!

Be careful buying from Best Buy vs Samsung

I pre-ordered and purchased the Samsung S8+ from Best Buy on 4/22/17. Unfortunately, I'm having a pixeling issue with the phone. I take the phone back to Best Buy and they are unable to replace my S8+ phone since I'm out of the 14 day window. The Samsung reps at best buy assure me that Samsung will replace my new phone within a few days if I call and file a claim. I call best buy mobile help on the card provided by the bb Samsung experience rep. Eventually, I get transferred to Samsung. Samsung advises that because I didn't purchase the phone directly from samsung that I was ineligible for a replacement and could only send in my phone for repair with expected return time of 9 days. If this is Samsung's protocol for Best Buy, why on earth would I ever purchase a phone from Best Buy again?!!! I like best buy and the convenience generally offered. However, I have been strongly discouraged from ever buying a phone from Best Buy again. In addition, the VR and Samsung kit with headphones and mem card had to be ordered from Samsung in a timely manner. However, I couldn't order without proof of purchase and IMEI. As a result by 4/22/17, all special entertainment kits with the mem card, vr and headphones were sold out. If I would have purchased directly from Samsung, I could have beat the rush and got the highly anticipated Samsung kit for a nominal fee. Instead I stayed faithful to Best Buy and get burned by only getting the vr kit and no one honoring the replacement of month old phone. I realize it's 9 day turnaround, but this process is really disappointing and I feel I should have ordered my two phones from Samsung vs Best Buy. Tough lesson to learn.

    Gorgeous but slightly flawed

I was eligible for an upgrade from my S6 and I have been with the galaxy series for a while now so the obvious choice for me was the s8. Once I saw the screen on the S8 plus though I couldn't help myself. I had to go for the plus. The screen is gorgeous. Seriously, put this thing in high performance mode and watch some 4k content on YouTube. I streamed a beautiful 4K aquarium video simultaneously on my 60" 4K tv and this phone and the image was noticeably sharper and the colors poppier (is that a word) on the phone. Gorgeous. I like being able to just swipe up for the apps I don't have on my screens. From the reviews I've seen on YouTube and from what the best buy guy told me most people don't use the "edge" apps and just turn that function off but I think that's what I use the most. That's where I keep all the apps I use on a regular basis; the calculator, tip calculator, Amazon music, the Keep app for my shopping list, the Reminder app for scheduled reminders and my games folder. I'm horrible about thinking of something I need to get at the store and then forgetting what it was within minutes. I love that my shopping list is available with the flick of a finger or if I'm busy I can just say "ok google, add to keep shopping list..." and google will add it for me. Maybe someday Bixby will be able to do that but for now, like most others, I have no use for Bixby. So far I haven't had too many issues with accidentally hitting the Bixby button. Like most others have said the main real drawback with this phone is the fingerprint scanner. It's just in a really bad spot. Maybe the S8 one works better? I don't know. The fingerprint scanner worked perfect on my S6. I rarely ever had to try more than once. This one NEVER reads my fingerprint on the first try. Most of the time not even the second or third try. The face and iris scanner work ok but still not as good as the fingerprint scanner on my S6. If you use Samsung pay as your primary payment method this might not be the phone for you. I used Samsung pay occasionally on my old phone but the few times I've tried it on this phone I've found it to be extremely frustrating trying to fumble around to get my fingerprint or irises read while there's a line of people behind me waiting. It's much quicker to just pull out my card. Overall this isn't a deal breaker for me. I have a few days left to return the phone but I think I'll be hanging onto it. With Best Buys $200 off plus $114 for trading in my S6 I got a good deal with the taxes covered and a curved edge glass screen protector. Best Buy didn't have a big selection of cases but for like $10 on Amazon I got a pretty clear case with a white lacey pattern around the edges that shows off that beautiful orchid grey color.

This phone is fast, smooth, has a great camera, looks and feels great in the hand. It's probably one of, if not the best smartphone/camera combo you can buy today. Indoor (low light) pictures are very clear. The screen looks fantastic and is plenty bright for outdoor use in direct sunlight. Still has a headphone jack, which is a must. Now, the drawbacks. It's too big. I'm a large guy, and this phone is too big to use one-handed. I can reach over to the other side of the screen with my thumb, however, the phone registers my palm on the opposite side and rejects the input. Bixby button and app are annoying in general. Even when I'm not physically hitting the button, Bixby hears me say something other than "hi bixby" and decides to wake up and begin speaking loudly in my pocket while I'm at work and the phone is on silent. Bixby and media volume have to be manually lowered even after hitting the silence button. Pretty frustrating. Back to bixby. I can say "Hi Bixby" half a dozen times and the phone doesn't respond. Why does it wake up IN MY POCKET at work? Bixby can't be remapped or uninstalled, and that would be fine if it worked. Most of my requests get a "Which one??," or a connection error. I really can't get it to do even basic things like send a text message. Google assistant is where it's at. Samsung pay doesn't work like it's supposed to. It's supposed to emit a signal even to old magnetic stripe readers, but I haven't gotten it to work once. The devices get stuck on "remove quickly." Tons of duplicate apps. Google's apps are mandatory, and you can't uninstall samsung's or AT&T's... I don't mind them shipping with the phone, but it shouldn't be advertised as 64GB if I can't use a portion of it. My scratch resistant screen got scratched in my shorts pocket with nothing else present in the pocket. I think they were denim technically, but not exactly blue jean material. I tried applying a screen protector, however, the curved screen and a case don't really play well with a screen protector. speaking of the curved screen, the edge software doesn't really do much. it looks like samsung had a "great idea" and then sort of gave up right at launch. there are hardly any official apps, and very few developers other than "Sally Soft" who seems to make the most reliable and useful stuff.

    beautiful, but...

bought an S8 (AT&T) from Samsung direct, and its beautiful, but... My previous phone is a Huawei Honor 8, which I love. I expected the S8 to be so much better. In my opinion, it isn't. My Honor 8 has been lightning fast since the day I bought it, very very few issues at all. In the week I've owned the S8 I've had more issues than I had in months with the Honor 8. (glitches when navigating the phone, a couple random restarts, among other things). As almost everyone notes, the S8 fingerprint sensor is poorly placed, and is fussy to use. The Honor 8 fingerprint sensor is blindingly fast and works EVERY time, without fail, and is positioned perfectly. S8 camera is no doubt better than the Honor 8, but, the Honor 8 does some cool stuff with its dual cameras, and I've been delighted by the pics from it, regardless of the 'quality' at a pixel level. Also, the AT&T apps, and Samsung apps just annoy me. None of that on the Honor 8. (last night some apps installed themselves on the S8 from the 'galaxy app store' - apps I didn't request or want) So, my SIM is back in the Honor 8, and the S8 is going the way of eBay. In summary, the S8 is a really beautiful phone, feels like a perfectly machined piece of solid metal in the hand, really nice. Screen is awesome. Lots of cool features. Great phone. But personally I prefer the Honor 8, it just delights me every time I use it.

    Excellent Smartphone!

If an oddly placed fingerprint scanner, or poor lowlight facial recognition is a deal breaker for you then go no further, this isnt for you. It isnt a deal breaker for me. Super security isnt needed in my life, thankfully. The battery life is the surprise feature to me beleive it or not, a day and a half easy with normal movies or loooong you tubes. Screen on time is no worry to me. S7 Edge gave me about a day, 7am to 12pm. and it charges superfast. Remapped (yes you can) bixby button, now its my flashlite which is super handy. Screen is BEAUTIFUL, i get 7 more items in each folder, better size for scrolling, easily seen in sunlight. This screen is almost as big as the entire body of the S7 Edge, yet this device is only a couple centimeters bigger overall.Swipe up/down for app drawer is nice new feature. Love the dbl press power button for camera. The new on screen home button is a great improvement. Both faces are glass, so dont get caught up in colors or fingerprints because you WILL NEED a case for this. The "slimmer than most" design is good for those with average size hands like me and the slim design is better for retrieving from your pocket. Has a great proximity sensor which prevents accidental pocket turn on. Lowlight pictures are improved from S7. Comes with good headphones. Yes the S8+ is expensive....but i like it! And im keeping it! Hoping the DEX Dock turns out to be something worth buying/using!

Decided to finally make the switch back to Android from IPhone. Previously was a long time Android user, and some of that time being a Galaxy S and Note users during that stint. I will tell you that I have had many ups and down with my previous Samsung smartphones in the past. I always seemed to leave the galaxy lineup not because of the hardware, but their software overlay (TouchWiz) was awful, slow and downright clunk after typically less that 3 months of use. Which after a stint on the stock android bandwagon (during which I owned a bevy of stock android devices like a Nexus 6, Nexus 6p, Moto X Pure and so on), I finally tried team Iphone. Ultimately wasn't always satisfied with the Iphone, although not always disappointed either, but that is another story. So I LOVE THIS PHONE! Samsung has come a long way with their software overlay, and it shows during use. The display on this device is downright ridiculous in a very good way. Crisp, clear and immersive. Camera is awesome. Feels great in my hand and after an initial worry of being able to navigate this device with one hard, that was no longer and issue thanks to the design, which is not as wide as your typical Phablet like devices of similar size. If i had one thing to complain about, which isn't a deal breaker, it is the placement of the fingerprint sensor. May not be as big of an issue on the standard S8, but is not as easily accessed on the S8+ as I would have liked. But you easily can get over this after playing with the phone for more than 5 minutes and sitting in awe of the display. The processor and ram combo make the device super snappy and responsive to most any task, and I found myself actually using more of Samsung's typical packed in software and hardware features than I previously used to use, or rather didn't take advantage of on previous Galaxy phones. All being said, I highly recommend this device to any android user, and also any Iphone user wanting to test the waters on a android device, you will not be disappointed.

Great Smartphone While Waiting For Note 8

I bought the Galaxy S8+ because I've gotten so used to the Note series of phones and a small phone would have freaked me out. The first impression on this phone's size is the "thin-ness" of it compared to my prior phone (Note 4). However, considering the curved screen on both sides, it's easy to see how that allows the phone to be a few mm shorter in width, but is the same length as the Note series. The screen is impressive. I'm also very impressed with the fact that the fingerprint sensor is on the back; I've read other reviews on XDA-Developers forum of which I've been a long-time member, complaining about the placement of the fingerprint sensor, but it honestly makes sense to me, as my index finger when holding the phone to unlock it/turn the screen on (and yes you can do that by just a fingerprint) is typically positioned in the precise spot where the sensor is. The cameras are very good (not as high MP as the later Notes) but the inbuilt technology more than makes up for a 4 MP decrease in this particular device. For those who wanted a removable battery, sorry - you can't do that like I was able to with my Note 4, but with regular use of several apps, a few games, etc., I'm still getting 28-30 hours between full charges. While I'm definitely waiting for the arrival of the Note 8, this is a great phone to keep my interest until the new Note 8 has both launched and has been in-field at least 6-8 months to ensure that it doesn't "blow up" like the Note 7 did! Even if you don't care about stylus use, this has got to be the flagship Galaxy phone at this point! Definitely recommend!
