It was well worth it
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This SSD was well worth it I've gotten one for my Xbox One X and I'm getting one for my PlayStation 4 Pro. I don't know about anyone else but not only did I get better load times. But I am getting better graphics and performance especially with textures as well as some other stuff. Now I'm not saying it's all next gen enhanced but it is definitely different. I noticed this from playing cyberpunk 2077 on internal HHD and switched to playing it on SSD. I did the same thing with Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Definitely seems to unlock a little extra console potential.. when it comes to games get you a good SSD it changes everything. I honestly don't see the need to even get the new generation consoles right now with an SSD an late last gen consoles..

Samsung T5 at Best Buy: Great external backup!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best reviews. Trusted brand name. Great quality. Fast backups. Bought this to make a backup. Plugged it in and it did the rest. Upgraded OS from Yosemite to BigSur (skipped everything in between; what an improvement). A keystroke and all my files and photos were back in place. Clean install. It’s now like a new computer. I didn’t need the one terabyte external drive because I’m only using 100 megabytes and have 1.1 terabytes free space on my internal hard drive; however, still I’m glad I decided on the one terabyte Samsung T5.

A Plus for Laptop with Less Than 250 GB.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Today's new thin laptops not in the $800+ range highly likely have less than 250 GB, especially those with detachable keyboard or 10" tablet at 64GB max. This SSD is a real + as an external storage that you can carry in your pocket or in your bag by just throw it inside (of course with a sandwich bag at least) ; you need not to constantly being careful with it. It is sturdy with no moveable part inside that you have to worry about damaging it internally that can't be seen. It hook up with either device with 2.0 or 3.0. USB port. I am not a racer, so I don't really care about timing the speed with either 2.0 or 3.0; however, mentally I do notice there is a difference in speed just as you are driving a car with a V8 or V6. In whole, it is a plus if your device has less than 250GB, especially those with only 64 GB while higher models with higher GB would coat as much as $500 difference.

Samsung T5 yes indeed.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Way better than the T7 in my opinion. Fast reliable and is on the BMPCC 4K/6k approved memory list. The storage capacity on Samsung T5 come in several sizes the 1T is more than enough for recording raw files in full 4K plus more. Side note* They had some left on 44th 5th Ave. I went and every one downstairs gave me excuses about how it’s no longer there, no one can really look for it right now, take the T7. Etc. I came specifically for the T5 which showed in stock on website which I needed last minute for a film gig. Really needed the T5 love it that much. As I was heading upstairs to leave I called Adorama to check stock and was going to be late now to go further downtown to get the T5. Good news, Melissa(braids/ glasses) the young lady upstairs in Best Buy noticed I was annoyed and asked how she could help? Long story short she found the T5 for me in 2 mins or less. Thanks Melissa !!! Saved me a trip/ time and the shoot was great.

Perfect Storage Solution
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m using this for my Xbox One X and find that it significantly improves load times and texture pop-in on Forza Horiza 4 and Call of Duty Cold War. Word of advice: Be cautious when using the back USB port. I found that the back ventilation warms up the USB port. I’ve moved it to the front USB and problem solved. SSD can warm up so standing it up would be ideal for long gaming.

||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for some External SSD Hard Drives and found this one. I owned another one (blue but 500GB) and was very pleased with the size and weight! Feels like a feather! Also works good and for video editing it works great.

Fast, small, light USB drive.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use the Samsung - T5 1TB External USB Type C Portable Solid State Drive with my Apple Macbook Pro store and work with my photos in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. Once I export the images to this drive, and the drive is 90% full, I keep the drive as a backup drive. The fast transfer of my large and numerous files is much appreciated. With the high speed and reliability of the Solid State Drives, and the prices dropping, this is now the preferred storage of my professional photos.

Q: QuestionHas Samsung updated this drive to be compatible with Mac Catalina?
Asked by OldGuy.
- A:Answer I am using one on a 2019 iMac 27" (w/256GB SDD internal) as an external 1TB for storage and on a 2017 iMac 21.5" as an external SSD boot disk in lieu of the 1TB internal Fusion. Both are running Catalina. No problems with either.

Q: QuestionMy husband has a desktop Dell. How much data will this external hard drive hold? Also, will it connect to his Dell? We have a lot of pictures saved on the Dell and would like to unload them. We are not that computer savvy? Thanks.
Asked by Sher.
- A:Answer I use this for my entire catalog of photos in Lightroom and there is only about half the drive space taken up. Not sure how many photos you're talking about and being a non static number for the size, as every photo is different, then it it hard to say if 1TB will store all your photos. I can tell you I have 230,000 and most are taken in a RAW format by the camera and those are the ones I have on this drive that is now half full. You can also connect this to your Dell desktop without worry. I myself have a Dell and I use it regularly with this drive. You plug it into your USB port on the computer and you should see it in your file manager very shortly after that. (takes a few moment s to read and or set itself up). Hope everything works out for you and you get the storage space you need.

Q: QuestionCan this device be used on a 2.0 USB connection?
Asked by Rick.
- A:Answer Yes it can. Use the appropriate cable (supplied with ssd) that has the physical connector for the usb 2.0 port. You won’t get the speed out of the drive because the usb 2.0 port will essentially choke. The ssd is orders of magnitude faster in data throughput than a usb 2 port. So it may be an expensive solution as compared to a regular external HD. However, it will be more reliable than a regular HD and also be somewhat future proof when you upgrade to a usb 3.xx port with faster data throughput. It is also smaller and lighter with all-metal construction compared to most 2.5 in external bus powered HDs.

Q: QuestionWhat kind of speeds can I expect to get with this drive if I'm using USB 3.0 connection? I know it's a pricey drive for this application but my MacBook Pro has 3.0 ports, and I like the reliability of the SSD, compared to HDD.
Asked by SBB2.
- A:Answer You should expect to get speeds around 410 MB/s for both using a 3.0 port

Q: QuestionHi I bought a gaming desktop was going to get another ssd getting one externally would be easier my question is will the USB type c be just as fast as having one internally?
Asked by Mike5eye.
- A:Answer On a new computer I'm having built, the speed on that internal SSD drive and this external one appear to match fairly closely. Joke; probably because of those irritatingly short cables.)

Q: QuestionAnyone using this external SSD unit had experience with doing a firmware update on the T5 1TB? Reading support documentation @ Samsung support, their wizard isn't Mac compatible as I read it. Thanks, W
Asked by SonJ.
- A:Answer I downloaded the app that came with the drive, (Samsung Portable SSD) and its pretty straightforward. You plug the SSD in, launch the app, and hit the update button within the app. It should update within a couple seconds.
