Q: Can it be used with the good old USB ports?

A: It is USB C based but can be used otherwise with the correct adapter.

Q: Can his be used to Directly EDIT your VIDEO from??? or primarily as a storage device for prinarily data and photos.

A: It can be done it depends on it you would WANT to do it that way -it depends on drive and bus speed. Most portable external drives wont be fast enough for high end picture editing. For example if you're trying to edit a 30 MB image in Photoshop on the drive it might be too slow. But if you're working on 5 MB images it should be fine. Since this drive is meant for portability you should consider if that is what you need or a drive meant to remain in one place. A physically larger drive will give you more speed and space. You could also clear space off your main drive onto a portable drive and use the main for editing.

Q: I must be missing something. What's the point of having a SS USB interface like Type C (3.1 Gen1) or Thunderbolt 3 when the drive itself can only transfer data at a paltry 135 Mbps? Seems like some phoey baloey marketing BS to me.

A: Many newer iMacs only have Type-C and TB ports. If you don’t need Thunderbolt-level data transfer speed, the design still permits you to use the drive without having to buy an (expensive) adaptor. This may not be what their designers (or marketeers) were thinking, but that’s why I bought this one—just for routine backup on my iMac.
