Q: I have old laptop with VGA connection. I have a new monitor without VGA but has USB C. Will this work? I purchased adapter yesterday but doesn’t work as it seems to be USB C to VGA. I need VGA to transmit to USB C. Will this work?

A: No this will not work it is not Bidirectional. you would need an active adapter to convert the VGA to USB-C.

Q: I've heard some of these will only activate one monitor at a time. I wanting the adapter to handle the use of two monitors, (in addition to the laptop screen. Thanks K

A: I have three activated screens using this adaptor. In addition to my laptop, I use the HDMI input for a large monitor and a USB input for my WACOM pen screen. I've never tried it with two extra monitors. I was surprised to learn that when I switch the lines around, the computer screen shows up on the pen tablet. My guess is that you'll need an adapter with two HDMI input slots rather than just one, but I am not sure.

Q: Anyone else having issues with the hub on an m1 MacBook not outputting 4k60?

A: I have not had an issue outputting 4k 60. I have the 2021 MacBook Pro M1 Max. It might be your HDMI cable. I would Recommend getting the RocketFish 4k Ultra HD HDMI cable. It is capable of 4k@60Hz.

A: This is compatible with Windows. I use these frequently in a tri-camera + charging mobile OBS/Zoom rig on Surface Pro X's and Book 2's without any fuss.

Q: I have young DELL Inspiron 15 3000 series laptop. Looking for a power supply adapter that will fit the round input on the LTP. possibility that power is good from source to adapter box, but then too weak to turn LTP power on. Port light orange. Thoughts?

A: The Dell Inspiron has a USB 3.2 Gen 1 (Type-C) port with Power Delivery/DisplayPort however no charging. Unfortunately we do not have any adapters/hubs will that barrel style connector for charging - we recommend using the proprietary power adapter and charging cable directly connected to your Dell when using our hubs/adapters

Q: My laptop has a USB-C port but not PD capable. Could I use a USB-C power adapter to power this device without drawing power from the laptop?

A: Hello, Thank you for your interest in Satechi. We can confirm that If it's not PD enabled, you cannot use the port for charging. Also, all of our adaptors contain an active chipset which draws about 15W of power from either the host device or the charger connected.

Q: Does the HDMI port support 1080p at 240Hz with HDR on Windows 11? i.e. (HDMI 2.0a or HDMI 2.0b)

A: Hi Brandon! The HDMI port for the On-The-Go Multiport Adapter would cap the frame rate to 60Hz and also it wouldn't support HDR.

Satechi USB-C on the go 9-in-1 Multiport Adapter
Very useful device , Convenient for home & travel use. Worth every penny in my opinion as I travel a good amount , love the fact that it comes with a built in smaller usb-C and a longer cord for all your needs.

Good Quailty, Tons of Ports, Convenient
TLDR: (that’s Too Long, Didn’t Read) For its size, this compact USB-C hub has a TON of useful ports. It allows power pass-through for up to 100W which can charge your iPad or most Macs. It has a convenient short USB-C cable that stores in the case, but that cable limits flexibility. Pros: * Great build quality with a metal shell. * TONS of ports; USB-C, USB-A, Ethernet, HDMI, VGA and memory card slots for both Regular and MicroSD. * Pass-through charging for iPads and most Macs. * Short USB-C cable stores in the unit for convenience. * Longer USB-C cable included. * Perfect color/texture match to Apple Space Gray. Cons: * The short USB-C cable is flat and not flexible side-to-side which limits the unit’s placement relative to your devices. Summary: If you have a tablet, phone or computer with a USB-C port, chances are this great travel hub will allow you connect a myriad of things to it. I won’t get into the specs because those are evident in the product description, but suffice to say that there is a port on this hub for just about anything you’d like to connect. I especially like the MicroSD card slot so I can easily import photos from a camera without needing to find an SD-to-MicroSD adapter. All of the ports are clearly labeled and there is plenty of space between them to easily get your fingers around the plug for insertion or removal. You do have to pay attention to the orientation of the plug, though. For example, the HDMI plug is inserted with the up side of the cable matching the top of the hub, whereas the VGA cable is inserted upside down with its “top” surface facing down. This is really minor but something to be aware of. Another thing of note is that the HDMI and the VGA will typically be used for monitors, but come out of different sides of the hub. This means that if you are connecting to two monitors (one HDMI and one VGA), the cables will be coming out of different sides of the hub which might make cable routing a bit messy. The unit does get warm to the touch when being taxed, but the metal case helps dissipate that heat. The box includes two USB-C cables; a long braided one and a shorter flat one that stores in the case itself. That shorter cable is really convenient to use for attaching the hub to your tablet or computer, but it is flat and doesn’t flex side-to-side. This means that the hub needs to extend straight out from your device’s USB-C port which may not be the best place for the hub. Of course, you can always use a different USB-C cable for this, but that negates the benefit of having that shorter cable which stores in the dock. This hub is not really intended to be kept plugged in as a long-term dock. Rather, it is best when used for temporary connections which traveling. As such, it really does its job well and is very easy to carry and hook up. If it meets your connectivity needs, you’ll be happy with the features, size and convenience this hub offers.

Excellent for "on the go"
This adapter, as named, is aimed at having one adapter to connect nearly anything you need to your laptop while traveling. It can be used as an at-home docking station, but there are some limits. The appearance and build quality are top-notch. It’s a space grey, solid aluminum block with connections on all four sides. It’s a bit on the large side, but that’s due to the 10 ports and a storage bay for the 4” flat cable. A separate 1-meter cable is included, and both are USB-C to USB-C. Connections not common to small adapters are an ethernet jack and a VGA port as well as both micro and full-size SD card slots. Add those to 2 USB-A ports, 1 USB-C data port, 1 HDMI 4K connection, a 100W USB power pass-through port, and you have the Swiss Army knife of adapters. I’ve seen some questions about why the VGA port? However, road warriors can attest that there are still VGA connections out there in real-world conference and meeting rooms. There are only a couple of drawbacks I’ve encountered that address why the “On-the-Go” is not an ideal desk-based docking station. With high-speed external SSD’s, my data transfer rate was more than cut in half compared to directly connecting to my laptop. Also, the 100W power pass-through is throttled back by some manufacturers. My Dell XPS dropped its charging rate from 130W down to 75W, not the potential 100W, and my Dell Inspiron dropped from 90W to 65W. This isn’t the fault of the Satechi unit, but due to the limits placed by laptop manufactures when not using their proprietary chargers or docking stations. Under heavy use, the slower rate may or may not keep up, but it’s way more than enough for less power-hungry laptops like my Surface Laptop GO (pictured). This is a quality adapter by one of the best in the business. It’s built to provide every connection you might need while away from home bundled in one compact unit. If that’s your need, you can’t beat it.
