Q: Do you need a license to operate this on the road?
A: Unfortunately the x160 is not road legal out of the box. Refer to your local laws to see what steps would have to be taken to make it road legal. its worth noting that some owners have had luck converting this into an ebike by installing a 3rd party pedal kit, but once again this all depends on your state's laws regarding ebikes. A: It is not able to get a license plate, so officially, no... but I live in Illinois and have had no issues...

Q: Does it have pedals? If not, can I put some on?
A: The Segway x160/x260 does not come with pedals. You can buy them from third party companies though online. Mostly sold to meet laws and eBike compliances for the city/town you plan to ride in.

Q: Does Best Buy allow potential purchasers to test drive the Segway dirt bike?
A: the bike came to us direct from a warehouse in California. There was no way to test drive it before purchasing. A Best Buy customer service rep told me we had 15 days to return if there were issues.
