Q: are the batteries replaceable? What are they?
A: Yes, 2-AAA rechargeable batteries.
A: Yes you can.
A: RCA. It comes with adapters for headphone jacks but there is no optical audio interface. Yes it is independent. I could still hear the TV speakers with the headphones on. The headphones still work with the TV muted or turned all the way down. You can get adapters for optical audio, which is what I had to to do and I was not disappointed with that setup.
A: Plugs right into output on the back of the TV. Works great over distances. I used to have to turn sound up too high and it disturbed other family members. Problem solved.
A: Wrong purchase, you need bluetooth units, not audio earphones.
A: You can try changing the frequency on the base. (There is a small switch on the front of the base that has three different settings). Also the tuner is on the headset.

A: Mine is hooked up to my Samsung 65 inch, with no problem. There are different ways to hook it up. One of them should work for you.
