Now that I am no longer working there, I am thrilled to see it all over again. Gary Cooper makes York seem real to me and let's my imagination live that part of history. I had forgotten that York was in service to this country for so short a time.

Great story of a great war hero, based on truth. We need to remember and honor those who served, and those who serve and protect. Blessed is the Nation whose GOD is the LORD. Our greatest protector.

Sergeant York, a truly incredible masterpiece bio of WWI's most decorated war hero remains a story about a simple man, simple people, living in a simple untouched farming community. Gary Cooper holds this movie together so beautifully, that it appears he isn't acting at all. This adds depth and meaning to the simplicity of a country man, who finds religion, which becomes the guiding force in his life, finding peace in saving the lives of his fellow infantrymen and singlehandedly captures over 150 members of the German army. A remarkable film that almost didn't get made. See it. Own it. Relish in its masterful storytelling of a remarkable loving American man.

This has always been one of my favorite movies. Gary Cooper and Walter Brennan are always do a good job. And all of the supporting cast are top notch. The story of Sergent York is a story that any person interested in history would love to see. The special features are very good especially the story about how the movie was made and how difficult it was to get York to sign off on it being made.

This purchase was for a birthday gift. It is great to see that old titles are still being produced and sold at BestBuy.

Although not always historically accurate, Sergeant York is a great retelling of the story of Alvin York, one of the greatest American heroes of the last century.
