• Q: How often do you have to change the filter? (1 answers)

  A: Once every 6 months but it actually depends upon usage, the more frequently you use it and the higher settings you use will require you to change it sooner, the same can be said for the opposite of this. If you use it less frequently or at lower settings the longer you can go without actually needing to change it. It does have a built in function that displays the life of your filter as a percentage.

• Q: Does it filter airborne particles as low as 0.1 micrograms (1 answers)

  A: The Shark 3-in-1 Air Purifier is equipped with a 3-stage HEPA filter that is designed to capture 99.98% of particles down to the 0.1–0.2 micron range, plus odors and VOCs. The cylindrical structure pulls air through the back and sides of the air purifier and passes it through the HEPA filter. Particles such as smoke, mold, and allergens are then trapped in the HEPA filter, allowing only clean air to be passed through the top vents.

• Q: How far from the wall does the unit have to be placed to work efficiently? Does it have to be three feet away? I read a minimum of 18 inches from walls as a general rule for most air purifiers. (2 answers)

  A: I have mine about 8 inches away from wall the only reason that is said is because sometimes when you dont clean or replace filters like your supposed to you can get black carbon or discoloration on the wall were unit is.

  A: I rinse mine every 2 months and replace at a year. When you rinse and clean filter let it completely dry before reinstalling and reset your filter light

• Q: Can this work to use during winter to heat a 1000 sqft open unfinished basement? (2 answers)

  A: I doubt that this will keep a 1000 sq ft unfinished basement heated up but it sure makes a 300 square feet office room warm everytime i use it.

• Q: I am finding it with the heat element activated and the fan on the lowest setting (Apparently my air is 100%). How can I make sure the fan always speeds up when the heat is on? Also when the heat turns off it dings. How do I stop it from doing that? (2 answers)

  A: You can raise the fan speed to a higher setting. You can stop the unit from dinging by pressing the brightness button (on the remote) for 3 seconds to mute it.

  A: This air purifier will get rid of odors upon filtering but you will need to replace the filter more often. Placement of the air purifier is important for the most effective result.
