A: Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding the Sharp R-1821 Microwave Oven. At this time we are not manufacturing any current over the range microwaves that use the same mounting plate. The Sharp R-1821 microwave oven’s external dimensions are 29 7/8” x 16 ½” x 13 ½” (Width x Height x Depth) and is a 1.1 cubic foot model. Currently the only 1.1 cubic foot over the range microwave being manufactured is the R-1871 with external dimensions of 29 15/16” x 16 11/32” x 15 9/32 (Width x Height x Depth). Ok so Far
This over the range microwave was special ordered for my Motor Home. I had a recessed space of 30 inches to install it but I had two problems. 1. not only would it have to be installed in a 30 inch space but the door would also have to open in the 30 inch recession. 2 The vent would have to vent straight out(horizontal) the front since there was no outside venting. Most will vent out the front but only "UP." This is the only model I could find to fulfill the two requirements. The oven arrived with a broken fan housing(very thin plastic). So I re-enforced it with JB Weld to increase it's strength. Also I had to hold in place with Gorilla tape to stop movement since only 2 small screws hold it in place. It replaced a Sharp Convection that worked but had broken plastic parts that were discontinued. The current replacement convection that I thought about also had discontinued parts. The selection of this oven was because it is the only one that will work and still get parts for it. Sharp customer service seems hard to deal with. I prefer Whirlpool. My recommendation is for motorhomes/trailers only in recessed areas.

Great replacement for my over-the-range microwave
I bought this as the updated version of the original over-the-range microwave I had. I called Sharp and asked them for the updated model so I would not have any installation issues. They were professional, courteous and accurate. This microwave fit perfectly with no real issues and has the same features as the previous model. It is easy to operate and does have reheat and popcorn. The carousel is large and easy to clean and it is very quiet when operating. I do wish it had a handle as my previous one did as I am constantly reaching for it, but I am getting used to not having a handle. I would recommend Sharp in general and this model microwave in particular.

Meets our needs
This microwave was selected due to its size and price. We had a limited size to fit the over range unit in and these dimensions matched. It works fine so far during our use.
