Q: Does this come as a pair or is it a single speaker?
A: They are sold individually, so the cost for a pair is around $500 before sales tax. It's a good question, because the product page shows *two* speakers, and the product name says "2-way surround speaker", but that refers to the number of speakers in each unit, not to the number of units. The product page needs to be changed so it shows one speaker and the wording of the product should also be changed.
A: If you really strap em....i wouldnt try it because of the weight...go with natural ceiling speakers
A: They are awsome for music. I'm using them as rear surround speakers in a 9.1 surround sound system.
A: Theoretically yes. There are connections for Banana Plugs on the back so the wires would just come into your Wireless Receiver/ Amplifier. Any signal loss would be a result of your receiver and not the speakers.
Q: Can these speakers be placed on a shelf and where are these speakers made?
A: I don’t know if you can put this in a shelf but I put mine in Perle smith universal speaker floor stand 26 inch for surround. This surround is very heavy so you have to secure it by buying a stable floor stand that can handle it. I think def tech was from vista California but I don’t know where they manufactured it.
Q: is one speaker sufficient to enhanced my TV sound?
A: yes it is
Q: will this speakers work with 220 voltage. I live in uzbekistan and I want to buy this
A: Since 9040/9080 are not powered speakers, you can use it overseas with different electrical amperes/watts/volts
A: Definitely agree. You must have the Audassey (sp?) sound correction with your Marantz? It is great for getting you started, but you do have to go in and manually adjust the levels for the surround (side and rear) speakers. I feel Marantz really favors the main / front speakers over the surrounds. I raised the levels (under manual setup > levels, I think?) on the surrounds by 3 or 4 clicks, and viola... pure audiophile ecstasy! Don't be afraid to play around in the Marantz to get these speakers to really come to life.
