PnP with 87.9% decrease in speed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fast and easy setup...it took about 15 minutes to fully configure. The longest part was when my router rebooted for the redirection in the DHCP server. I took a speedtest before the setup and got 282 Mbps download and11.9 Mbps upload. Once Cujo was inline with my network (bridge mode), I received 34 Mbps down and 3.63 Mbps up. That's a 87.9% decrease in speeds!!! Needless to say, I will not be keeping this. If you're paying for Gig and can live with an 88% decrease in speed, then this is the firewall for you. For everyone else...it's not worth wasting your time. The only reason I'm giving this 2 stars is because of their app, which seemed very user friendly. Loaded with information on attached devices and threat statistics, the Cujo app seemed to be very informative without needing a Cisco networking certification.

I was surprised, and yet somehow now disappointed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When i first got this, the app interface was different from what it is today, after a few updates from the Cujo team. This changed my perception of the product. Why? Because i saw how much total traffic was being filtered and now that feature was removed. That makes me worry that the system isn't working as hard as it should - if at all. You can look at how much traffic was scanned over the last 24 hours, but not any more than that. The permissions thing, which allows you to lock out certain categories for certain people, doesn't appear to be working properly. I engaged it for myself and tried some sites like gambling, and it let me go to them. It wasn't a one or two thing, it was many. That tells me this feature is not working properly. The part that I love is that the unit was telling me someone was hacking (multiples) or trying to get into one of my interior security cameras. That gave me alot of confidence in the product.....but with traffic stats removed, I don't know easily if it is really still working. Regardless of whatever else you think you have for security on your network, unless it is a hardware firewall, you are vulnerable. This gives you that.....and you can buy a more expensive version with no monthly fees and unlimited (lifetime) coverage of updates. I'm banking on the fact this will pay off long term vs. paying a monthly fee. Buy one, even if it isn't this one, so you can some security on your network. A smart firewall like this will protect you from inbound attacks you didn't even know were happening. Your router has a firewall, but it isn't smart....this is and helps protect you. The Cujo team needs to get back to the basics with the app as it appeared weeks before when I bought this....I wrote to their support but nobody ever wrote back....that concerns me, that they aren't listening.

Something everyone should have....really
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a computer savvy person, but by no means an IT guru, I was thinking products like this were simply a gimmick or just an unnecessary expense. But after the latest credit bureau hack I was thinking that maybe there is something more I should consider doing. My router is secure, and I've done the port scans and such, plus my computers are protected with a firewall, anti-virus, etc. What I hadn't considered was all of the Internet of Things (IOT) that do not have that same thing like a firewall or antivirus protection. Couple that with the fact that my router was not "smart" and didn't simply know what to do with inbound requests from some IP addresses. I set this up, easy enough. Got a phone call after setup, and the guy said he wasn't sure if I hooked it up right but I followed the directions and the device was seeing all of my devices, so all seemed okay. Days and days went by, with no warnings of any kind. So I was thinking maybe this was really unnecessary, until yesterday. Yesterday I got a warning about an intrusion attempt into one of my security cameras. Since it cannot defend itself per se, other than a strong username and password, I had a lightbulb moment that this was a very necessary product. Cujo BLOCKED the suspect IP attempts and that put my mind at ease. Apparently the hard working folks at Cujo are looking at many angles to determine what is safe, and what isn't. An outside IP from a known problem location, are blocked.....very cool. This is all you needed to know if you wonder if it worth it! I don't use the parental control/user assigned stuff, but may at some point. It was more of a way to prevent anyone from accessing my home network through those IOT devices that aren't able to protect themselves with anything other than a password. This unit comes with a lifetime subscription so I won't have to pay anything each month to get updates. I understand now, that this is a necessary thing for any home network to have (or small business) to prevent unwanted intrusions. This unit looks great, works great, and certainly something I wish I would have gotten sooner. This is about as plug and play as you can get, so even if you are a bit clueless about this stuff, it will do its thing and let you know of any concerns. Oh, if you were wondering if this was some kind of trick or scam from the people at Cujo, I can assure you that when I did a lookup of the IP address, I found it had been reported before as a problem IP address.

It works! and very well!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a Cujo Firewall user for more than two months. From the install experience to daily use I am very satisfied with the product. During install, I had a small problem with the iPhone interface, I opened a ticket and a technician called my cell number and helped me to do the complete installation. In daily use, Cujo firewall caught that my Amazon, fireTV attempted to access questionable sites (22 times overnight). Amazon’s technical support told me to reload software. The same way Cujo stops Facebook to open Windows exploit sites, Adware, botnet sites It really works! I highly recommend Cujo Firewall

Great Product! Great Support!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been looking for a firewall/IDS/IPS like this for a long time. Cujo is working flawlessly! If you are concerned that you are not "technical" enough to install Cujo don't worry. Call the Cujo support and they will get you up and running in no time! My home network includes an Arris Modem/Router and an Apple Time Capsule (in bridge mode) that I use for backing up my Mac laptops. I use the wireless SSID from both devices. I connected Cujo to the Arris, and started the install process on my phone. The install threw an error and suggested I call customer support. I called Cujo support and after they asked a couple of questions, had me download Teamviewer so the engineer could see my screen. We had to make a few changes to DHCP on my router, rebooted Cujo, and then rebooted my Arris router. After the router came up, all my connected devices to include both routers, Nest and Hue IOT devices, mobile devices, and laptops were visible on the app! Finally, the Cujo support engineer did a short demo of the product by having me go to a "fake" website that Cujo sees as bad. Really cool! Thanks Cujo!

Security so easy a caveperson could do it...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the Cujo device for nearly 6 months now and can say I'm really pleased with it. I was worried it might slow down my speeds but can say it does not. I had one issue and the cujo support team jumped on it faster than you can say "cujo". They are fast, knowledgeable, and eager to help. I was looking for a hardware device that would protect all of my IoT devices and glad I stumbled upon cujo

Q: QuestionWhat is a firewall? I don't know anything about this could you tell what's it for and why do I need one.
Asked by Debbie.
- A:Answer firewall works as a barrier, or a shield, between your PC and cyber space. When you are connected to the Internet, you are constantly sending and receiving information in small units called packets. The firewall filters these packets to see if they meet certain criteria set by a series of rules, and thereafter blocks or allows the data. This way, hackers cannot get inside and steal information such as bank account numbers and passwords from you.

Q: QuestionDoes this come with a lifetime subscription?
Asked by Mark.
- A:Answer Yes, there are two price models of Cujo. You can pay a monthly fee or choose to buy the one with the simple lifetime subscription. Either way is expensive, but that's the price to pay for the peace of mind of a good home network security.

Q: QuestionI have two routers, Xfinity and Apple. Can one CUJO be connected to both to protect each network?
Asked by STA.
- A:Answer Here is how I hooked mine up. cable modem - Cujo - switch to two wireless routers and various other hard wired devices. Works just fine, they call this bridge mode. Your Cable modem need to issue the IPs or the switch would need to be a router issuing the IPs. The support guys were very helpful at Cujo
