- A:Answer Hi, thanks for your question. This product is designed to take an Optical signal from a TV and adapt it to an HDMI signal to connect to an HDMI ARC input device. We do not recommend this product to be used in other ways.

- A:Answer It would not. It goes the other way. The optical is for the back of the tv and hdmi female to run HDMI to Arc or Beam. So it does the other direction from the way you want to go. It's for tvs with optical only.

- A:Answer Hi, thank you for your question. This product is meant to adapt an Optical audio connection to a HDMI ARC audio connection. This product is commonly used with a Sonos Amp, Arc, or Beam.

- A:Answer The adapter is technical designed to go the other way around. From a Tv without HDMI ARC to a Sonos soundbar with ARC. (Arc, Beam) However, it's not directional, so it may work for this as long as by "digital" you're referring to an optical port. We can't guarantee it though.

Q: QuestionSince the arc only has hdmi out to the tv, how would I connect my directv box to the arc to watch tv?

- A:Answer ARC (Audio Return Channel) is a reverse signal path connection that comes out of a TV and sends audio signals back to another device, in your circumstance the return path is to your Sonos sound bar. Your other inputs then become the source inputs for your TV and all of the audio is sent back through this ARC HDMI to your soundbar. It takes up one extra input port from your TV to do this, specifically the one labeled ARC if your TV is equipped with it. This optical adapter is used in circumstances if your TV does not have a compatible ARC HDMI port. Most TVs without ARC HDMI are equipped with an optical out port, and this would allow you to extract the digital audio signal from your TV via an optical toslink cable and plug it into the HDMI input port on your sound bar.

- A:Answer This is designed to be used with Sonos components that have an HDMI input (Amp, Arc Soundbar, etc). If your speakers are being powered by the current generation Sonos Amp or Sonos soundbar, then this adapter will work. But the TV you have is equipped with HDMI ARC and could be directly connected to an HDMI equipped Sonos component without needing this adapter.
