  • Key Specs
    • Image Sensor Size: APS-C (22.2 x 14.8 mm)
    • Effective Pixels: 24.2 megapixels (The actual number of pixels which make up the viewable image.)
    • Standardized Video Resolution: 4K (2160p) (An approximated measurement of the product’s video resolution. This may not be the exact resolution of the product, which may be slightly more or less when using a pixel-by-pixel measurement.)
  • General
    • Brand: Sony
    • Model Number: ILCZVE10/B
    • Product Name: Alpha ZV-E10 Mirrorless Vlog Camera - Body Only
    • Color: Black
    • Product Set: Body Only
    • Camera Model Family: Sony Alpha ZV-E10
    • Digital Camera Type: Mirrorless Camera Body Only
  • Imaging
    • Image Sensor Type: CMOS (CCD and CMOS are the two main technologies used in image sensors. CCD, the older of the two types, turns analog light signals into digital pixels. This conversion happens without distortion, resulting in high-quality images. Newer CMOS sensors use transistors at each pixel to move electrical charges. CMOS sensors are typically less expensive, but also require more light to create distortion-free images.)
    • Image Sensor Size: APS-C (22.2 x 14.8 mm)
    • Total Pixels: 25 megapixels (Generally, the more pixels, the higher the image resolution and the finer the detail that can be seen.)
    • Image Resolution (Display): 6000 x 4000 (Refers to the number of pixels, both horizontally and vertically, used to either capture an image or display it. The higher the resolution the finer the image details.)
    • Zoom Capability: false (This function allows for magnification of the subject.)
    • Digital Zoom: 1x (A digital zoom is accomplished electronically, with no adjustment of the camera's optics, and no optical resolution gained in the process. The existing data is not enhanced or added to, merely displayed at a lower resolution, thereby giving an illusion of an enlarged image.)
    • In-Camera Image Stabilization: true (This feature helps reduce image blurring from camera motion. In-camera stabilization means the image sensor itself moves to counteract detected motion.)
    • Low Light/High Sensitivity: true (High sensitivity digital imaging devices are designed to work in low light conditions to produce a high dynamic range image.)
    • Image File Format(s): RAW, JPEG (Standardized software format(s) of storing digital images. The type of format chosen for capturing and compressing the image can determine quality, level of detail, and storage space required.)
  • Focus
    • Autofocus: true (Allows the camera to automatically focus through the lens, rather than by adjusting the lens manually.)
    • Eye Autofocus (Eye AF): true (Automatically seeks out and focuses on the subject's eye and holds it as the camera and subject move and as the photographer shoots at high frame rates.)
  • Exposure Control
    • Shutter Speeds: 1/4000 (The length of time the shutter remains open when the shutter release is activated, expressed in fractions of seconds. The longer the shutter is open, the more light that is able to be captured by the camera sensor.)
    • Brightness Control: true (Allows the camera to adjust the brightness of a captured image for optimal exposure.)
    • Burst Mode: true (Also referred to as continuous shooting. This feature captures multiple shots in rapid succession.)
    • Burst Rate: 11 frames per second
    • Self Timer: true
    • Self-Timer Delay: 2 seconds, 5 seconds, 10 seconds
    • Shooting Modes: Auto, scene, and P, S, A, and M (Exposure modes employed by the photographer to control the optimal aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and other settings for capturing specific subjects/scenes. Examples include Aperture-Priority, Macro, and Manual modes.)
    • Panorama Mode: true
    • White Balance Modes: Auto, daylight, shade, cloudy, incandescent, fluorescent, flash, underwater, color temperature (Settings that calibrates how the color white is rendered in an image/video, reducing the appearance of unnatural contrasts caused by various light sources.)
    • Effective Pixels: 24.2 megapixels (The actual number of pixels which make up the viewable image.)
  • Lens
    • Lens Mount Compatibility: Sony E-Mount, Sony E-Mount (Full-Frame)
    • In-Lens Image Stabilization: false (This feature helps reduce image blurring from camera motion. Lens stabilization means an element within the lens moves automatically to counteract detected motion.)
  • Flash
    • Integrated Flash: false
  • Display
    • Display Type: LCD
    • Screen Size: 3 inches (Size of the screen, measured diagonally from corner to corner.)
    • Screen Resolution: 6000 x 4000 (Screens come in a range of resolutions (measured in pixels, horizontal x vertical). The higher the resolution, the greater the picture quality.)
    • Touch Screen: true (Touch-screen devices make navigating more intuitive. Using a touch-screen display, you can do things such as tap to select, hold and drag to move items, swipe to scroll, and pinch to zoom.)
    • Varying Angle Screen: true (The camera's screen can be flipped out and adjusted to rotate, tilt, and/or swivel.)
  • Video
    • Standardized Video Resolution: 4K (2160p) (An approximated measurement of the product’s video resolution. This may not be the exact resolution of the product, which may be slightly more or less when using a pixel-by-pixel measurement.)
    • Video Resolution(s) and Frame Rate(s): 4K (2160p) video recording at 120 fps (Refers to the number of pixels, both horizontally and vertically, and the frame rate used to capture the video. The higher the resolution the finer the video detail that can be seen. The faster the frame rate the smoother the playback for higher motion activities like sports.)
    • Maximum Video Frame Rate: Up to 120 fps (The maximum frequency at which consecutive images can be captured by a video recording device.)
    • HDR Mode: true (HDR Mode uses multiple photos taken at different exposures to add more dynamic range to photographs. HDR technology displays content with greater contrast between bright and dark, resulting in clearer and more lifelike images.)

The ZV-E10 features a large sensor with E-mount interchangeable lens options for a wide selection of lenses, flip-out vari-angle LCD, advanced audio options and features specifically designed for vlogging.

  • 3" LCD Screen: A flip-out, vari-angle touch LCD makes framing and vlogging easy
  • 24MP APSC Sensor: The ZV-E10 features a 24.2-megapixel APS-C Exmor CMOS sensor that produces high-quality imagery with high-sensitivity, detailed texture depiction and beautiful natural bokeh
  • ISO: 100-32,000 (expanded 50-51,200 in stills)
  • Burst Speed: 11fps continuous shooting
  • AF Points: Fast-hybrid autofocus capabilities with 425 phase-detection and 425 contrast-detection AF points
  • 4K video with great detail: The ZV-E10 delivers extremely detailed and crisp 4K from direct pixel readout and no pixel binning. Using the full width of the 24.2MP sensor, it oversamples roughly the equivalent of 6k to produce highly detailed 4K video.
  • Easy background blur control: The Background Defocus features lets you simply press a single button to turn background blurring (bokeh) on and off. A defocused background highlights you or your subject, while having everything in focus is great for showing a location or setting.
  • Precise focus transitions for smooth-looking product reviews: With the press of a button, you can activate the ZV-E10’s Product Showcase Setting. When activated, when you hold a product in front of the camera the focus will shift to that object, then back to your face when product moves out of frame
  • Stay brightly lit wherever you go: Even when lighting conditions change, the ZV-E10 makes sure that you'll always be brightly lit. From direct sunlight and backlit angles to shadows and dimly lit interior corners, the camera detects the subject's face and automatically handles changes in brightness.
  • Designed for clear voice recording: Equipped with a built-in Directional 3-Capsule Mic, the ZV-E10 records voices clearly even in crowded settings. It's optimized to capture voices in front of the camera with fewer distracting ambient sounds, perfect for vlogging use.
  • Easy sound monitoring: The ZV-E10 features a standard 3.5mm headphone output so you can connect a set of headphones to monitor whether the audio is being properly recorded.
  • Live-stream setup is easy: With a single cable, the ZV-E10 can be used as an online communication tool, taking advantage of its large sensor and built-in mic.

Q: Can you take photos using this camera or is it mainly for recording? Just starting out and wanted to know if this is ideal for photography. Also is the battery rechargeable?

A: It takes great pictures but it is marketed for video. I bought it for both. The biggest drawback for taking photos is the lack for a view finder.

Q: What battery does this camera take?

A: It uses the older style Sony Alpha battery camera. So for example, my 10 year old Sony Alpha battery fits this camera as does the battery charger. You can pick up extra inexpensive batteries for this camera without any problem.

Q: Do Minalta lenses fit this camera?

A: Only with a "dumb" adapter that has no autofocus capabilities. The adapters are relatively inexpensive to buy.

Q: Would recording in 4k 60 mbs instead of 100 mbs be less read out work on the sensor?

A: Hi Mdmale, Sony's commitment to customer satisfaction is our top priority. The readout work is the same for both settings on the sensor. However, higher bit rate settings will use more processing power than the lower ones. Thank you so much for your question. And thank you for choosing Sony.

Q: What canon lenses are compatible with this new sony camera?

A: You can find "dumb" and autofocus adapters for Cannon lenses. Do a search for them. I don't have any Cannon lenses so I can't comment directly. I do have a dumb adapter for my old Sony lenses and it works as expected but just has no autofocus capabilities.

Great Substitute Camera for Full Frame Cameras

At first i was skeptical on getting the ZV-E10 since the Mark ii version came out, but when i saw some youtube videos and saw that the video quality was better than the Mark ii i decided to buy. I have not regretted since and it has become my go to camera for traveling and a great substitute for my A7 IV.

    Awesome little camera

Very high quality camera for the price acutely downgrade from Sony a7iii and can compare in some areas with that camera but obviously not as good in low light as a full frame camera. Would definitely recommend for a beginner camera!
