A: Not sure why someone would tell you that and doubt Sony is coming out with a new one any time soon. I have no issues with mine. I suggest you look for reviews on YouTube and comparisons with other 85mm. Make your decision based on what you see. You could be waiting quite some time.

Perfection, realized.
This thing is crisp and fast to lock in AF. The bokeh is smooth and gradual when needed and fast and sharp when necessary. I’m shooting with an A7C & FX3. Love it. All G Masters have been amazing so far.

This is a Powerful lens!!!!
What an investment!! It's not called the "Bread & Butter" lens for nothing. Very sharp, buttery bokeh..fast AF in portrait as well as video...especially video in particular..your portraits will wow whomever or whatever you're capturing!.
