these headphones are small and lightweight. they have good sound, incredible bass (quite an upgrade if you used the headphones that come with an ipod.) multiple cap sizes. an odd design though, the cord doesn't split in the spot that most headphones do. the case is completely worthless. otherwise, i'd say, for its affordable price, that sony has done a good job.

Bought these to upgrade my ipod headphones. Didn't want to shell out $100+ for the Shure or Bose models that many friends have suggested. These are very good headphones in their price range. Provided you use the proper fitting earpiece, they provide good rich bass and a pleasing sound overall. The highs and the mids could be a little clearer, and seem to get muddy at higher volumes, but again, a significant improvement over whatever junk came packaged with your mp3 player. Haven't had them long enough to comment on reliability or build quality, but the sound quality is certainly pleasing. I use them frequently when riding in a convertable, and while they don't block out all the external sound, they do a very good job for the price. Would buy these again.

With the outrageous price for high performance headphones, if you're looking for excellent bass and sound reproduction, look no further. Sure, there's plenty of units that offer sound canceling, even Sony's next model up offers that. But honestly if you're anywhere, short of an airliner taking off, these headphones will perform just about as well. Amazing bass response for so small a headphone. The Earbuds can come off with repeated use, so a caution to those with larger ear canals. Also, the earbuds are a pain to replace as the only retailer for them is Sony.com. Other than that, a great little set of headphones.

I bought these in conjunction with my Shure E2C headphones just because I walk around my neighborhood a lot, and let's face it, it isn't that safe. These Sony ear buds are a wonderful set and I have had them for almost two years. And in that time, the sound has remained very clear, and I think has gotten better with age. There are only two reasons I didn't give this a perfect. The first is the bass isn't as deep as I would have hoped for, but this is comparing them to my Shure set. The bass is definitely great for ear phones this size, but the way they were touted I had hoped for better response. THe more important reason is the interchangeable cups like to slid out of my ears a lot. Not a huge deal, and it seems to happen a lot hen I am active, but it get annoying having to find where it fell and get it back in my ear. In response to the previous review, I 'misplaced' one of those little cups, but I was able to order a new set through Best Buy's part search line. Took about three days to get here, and were less than ten dollars after tax and shipping.
In summary, these are a great set of earbuds, and are worth every penny. Awesome bass for a small set, and clear sound. Different sized cups means it will fit in almost any ear canal comfortably and strongly. Buds do like to slide around a bit, but only if you are active.

These earphones are absolutely fantastic. I had them for almost two years and until the wires frayed and one side stopped working, the sound was very bright, consistent, and very superior to earphones such as the standard iPod phones. They lasted a very long time; I used them at school, and on planes, tugging at them every which way, and they seemed to hold up fine. The earbuds do fall off all the time and I found it very frustrating. The trick is to find the earbud that best fits you, and super glue them onto the base of the earbud. They won't move a bit. I did it, and they were the perfect earphones. A great buy for the price. Sony did a good job.

Worth the $$

I never used to like the earbud type headphones . I used the Regular Cup type . I had actually been using the sony street headphones that fall behind your neck , they sound awesome for the 30 buck that they were , but they began to hurt my ears after long periods of using them . So i decided to try out a pair of earbuds that had cushions to them . These are very very comfortable for someone who is not used to having them . Even after long use they didnt seem to bother me . If you are going to be listening to it at high levels , you may want to use an equalizer on your device to cut out some of the highs . But they are a great headphone either way .

I tested 8 different pairs of ear bud headphones from the very inexpensive to the $100 variety and everything in between. I tried ones with noise canceling and without. These Sony's had by far the best sound quality (with minimal external noise) and excellent bass, while not being uncomfortable. I like them better than the $80 Phillips and the $100 Bose for less than half the price.

They're good for the money

I got the oe bose and they sounded great, but hurt my ears after awhile so I had to return them. I was going to go with the in ear bose, but figured for the $$ difference I'd try these first. They sound pretty good for the price, but the highs are definately on the harsh side. I had to use treble reducer on my i-pod. On the low and mids they sound fairly clean and responsive. Not audiophile grade by any stretch, but not a bad buy for the money over all.
