Refurb needs work

I purchased this refurbished PS3 for my husband. It seemed to work well at first, but the fan was VERY loud. Five days ago the system stopped working completely and has our Netflix blu-ray stuck inside it. I've been trying to contact Nuko for the warranty fix - it is just inside the 90 day warranty - and they returned my initial call fast but I've waited three business days and they haven't emailed me the paperwork to send off the unit for replacement yet. I tried calling them again this morning and the representative said he'd email it right away but I still don't have it. This is turning into a big headache. I regret buying the refurb.

Broke Twice

I bought the ps3 and it seemed like as soon as the warrenty wore off so did the preformance on my ps3. It broke, it was unable to read any form of disk (game, cd, dvd, etc.). So i sent it back to sony which was'nt cheap in the least bit for $150. I was'nt to happy about the price but at least i had my ps3 back. But not even one year later it broke again. They call it the yellow light of death, because apparently it almost always happens for a refurbished or fixed ps3. Not happy in the least bit they owe me $150 or a new ps3 immediatley.

No Backward Compatibility

The only reason I had bought this refurb over a new unit was because it was supposed to have backward compatibility. After ordering the unit I started researching PS3's only to discover that none of the 40GB units had backward compatibility. The description for the product is wrong. I got the unit and popped in a PS2 game and got "This system is not compatible with Playstation 2 games."
I was able to return it to the store for a full refund. I wish I would have researched more before I bought the unit instead of relying solely on the description on the Best Buy page. I ended up just buying a PS2 and a new PS3 Slim.
I would recommend a PS3 to anyone. I love my Slim and use it everyday, either with Netflix streaming or to watch a Blu-Ray movie or to stream downloaded videos from my PC.
Only giving it 3 star because it is not as advertised and this kills the value for the money part of buying this refurb. I was much happier buying a new model with a full warranty. I believe I remember the the warranty on this being either 60 or 90 days and it was from a company called Nyko I think.

Works good

It was a good working ps3, but the thing I didn't like about it was that it didn't have the memory card slots for like the sd cards even though it said that it had it. The other thing I didn't like was that it came with some weird USB plugin that you need to use for the controller to work but other than that the actual system itself works good. I haven't had any problems with it yet whatsoever.

Works Fine!

I bought an original 60GB PS3 in 2005 which recently broke down. Rather than getting it repaired, I decided to try the refurbished PS3.
I figured if it was refurbished, somebody at a tech center went through it carefully, tested each component, replaced anything defective... This process I thought was probably more stringent of a QC than the millions of units that get stamped out of a factory.
Result? Well lets just say that the PS3 is as good as new, not a scratch on it on my unit, and loaded and updated fine, and continuing the entertainment for the house just as the old 60GB one did. I guess 5 years of service is good for an early technology adopter, so I would expect this one to last another 5 years or more. :)

Overpriced PS3

Seriously, $249.00 for a USED 40GB Playstation 3? Two years ago, I just paid $50.00 more for the exact same thing and it was BRAND NEW. I bought that system in March 2008, and now in May 2010, my system just shut down. I now have the RED LIGHT OF DEATH syndrome and nothing can be done about it, except to send it to Sony. But they don't even service/repair your system, they REPLACE it with someone else's system that they happened to repair. You might as well spend $100.00 more for the new 250GB slim, and it would be brand new. That's what I plan on doing when they're finally back in stock where I live. I put a lot of money into a lot Blu-ray movies and some PS3 games, I just hope Sony has fixed this problem with the new slims.

ps3-great "gamers" system

The ps3 is a bit pricey, but every bit worth it in the long run, since it has so many great games and has the power to run them. Did I mention the game selection? Seriously - if you are in the market for the best gaming system out there, get this.
A:AnswerThe main thing to look for in a ps3 that can play ps2 games is a flip top cover next to the disc tray that has SD card slots, and it should have 4 USB ports on the front as well. The hard drive sizes stock should be either 40, 60, or 80 GB.
