Q: How long can I use the SA-RS5 rear speakers on battery power?

Q: How many wireless subwoofers can I connect to this receiver?
A: You can connect up to two of the same model Sony SA-SW5 or SA-SW3 subwoofers to this receiver.
Q: What is the wattage per channel for this Sony receiver?
A: This receiver has 120 watts per channel.
Q: How many audio zones does the receiver have?
A: The receiver has 3 audio zones.
Q: Can I connect this receiver to my Sonos system?
A: Yes, this receiver is "Works with Sonos" compatible.
Q: Does this Sony receiver support Apple AirPlay?
A: Yes, the STR-AN1000 supports audio streaming via Apple AirPlay 2.
Q: Can I connect wired front speakers to this receiver if I am using wireless rear speakers?
A: Yes, you would need to connect your wired front left and right speakers before connecting the wireless rear speakers.
Q: How many watts per channel?
A: This question is more complicated than one might expect. The Sony website spec states: 100W into 2 channels driving two 6ohm speakers. Since most (not all) speakers are 8 ohm-speakers, the power output of the AN1000 driving 8 ohm speakers would be more like 85W/channel into 2 channels. The complication comes when people assume the statement on the box: 165W x7 means 165W/per ch (7 ch). This would have to be more like 165W spread out over 7 channels. Basically, 165W shared across all active channels. Keep in mind: Surrounds and height channels do not need quite as much power as your fronts and are often smaller speakers. Also: The lion's share of power-demand comes from bass which for most people will be a powered sub-woofer with its own 100W amplifier built into it. Now that's out of the way, sound quality should not be measured in watts. There is so much more to sound quality than how many watts the amp is rated at. If you have a large room and plan to host parties with loud music, then you might need more power. If you are watching movies in a normal size living room all 7 ch. driven, I feel comfortable saying you will be quite happy with this receiver. I purchased the AN1000 a couple of days ago to replace my aging (legendary) Sony DN1080 which I have loved the past 10+ years. The AN1000 is an improvement in many ways, but the number of watts per channel are rated exactly the same: 100W X 2 into 6ohms.

Customers often highlight the amazing sound quality, ease of use, and straightforward setup of the STR-AN1000 receiver. Its support for Dolby Atmos, ample power, and multiple connectivity options are also appreciated. However, some users find the remote to be lacking due to its unlighted design. Overall, the receiver is considered a great value for its price.

I have used my new Sony STR AN1000 receiver for about a week and I'm loving it so far. I honestly can tell a difference in sound from my Onkyo TX NR545 receiver which I used for many years and worked well. The reason I switched receivers is because I just purchased a new 85" Mini LED television (also from Best Buy) and wanted to take advantage of the TV's newer technology. The Sony receiver has 4K 120Hz and 8K 60Hz passthrough via 2.1 eARC HDMI. The Dolby Atmos sound is amazing with or without using the 360 Spacial Mapping. The only Con that I have is that I still have to use individual remotes for all the connected devices (Receiver, TV, Cable Box, Navidia Shield/games, and Blue-ray player). Maybe I'll discover a better way.
