This review contains one spoiler. It's great to have so much of Star Wars these days. I remember when I was younger there wasn't much on tv of Star Wars that's new, before the prequels came out. I do find myself watching The Clone Wars more than the prequels as I own those as well. I think the animators did a great job just in little things like facial expressions with what's being said. And the action is excellent. I even liked the so called weaker episodes of this season (droid episodes). Here's the spoiler.... There's not much in one of those episodes, but I found one part funny and a feel good moment with the little guy, Colonel Gascon finally getting to like the droids, says to his troop of driods, "funny thing about droids, (refering to the battle droids) last thing they'd expect to betray them another droid." After watching so much of droids in those episodes, I thought that was funny as all his droids chuckled. I won't spoil any more than that. And the final episode of the droid episodes was good too. The issues I found were small, the lyp-sync in some places was a little off. It plays fine on my PS3 overall though. I bought it the first day it came out so maybe now they've fixed this. This is the last season of the Clone Wars but they have a few more episodes coming from the Clone Wars in some way, (on tv, blu ray who knows yet,) later this year 2014. Clone Wars will then be over but that's not so bad because a new Star Wars cartoon will be coming later this year too, Rebels.

    Still Need Disc Replacement

So, I took a chance on finally purchasing the fifth and final season of the Clone Wars on Blu-ray after many complaints about the original discs and sets being slightly defective when they were released late in 2013. I thought by September of 2014 the problem would be fixed and all existing copies pulled from shelves long ago. This is not the case. I still had the same technical audio problems on disc two that plagued the blu-ray version, telling me that WB did not pull existing copies once they knew there was a defect...shame. I had to call the WB customer service department and they are sending out two new discs as replacement. Apparently, if you are unwilling to live with the existing audio sync flaw, you WILL have no choice but to call for a replacement as there are no "fixed" blu-ray sets available in stores even at this very late date. I suppose WB is washing their hands of this franchise since Disney has acquired Star Wars rights since the fall of 2013 when this was manufactured? Who knows...but also note that Best Buy says there are 3 discs in the set, there are not, there are only 2, just as issued in 2013, again confirming no defective sets were ever pulled from shelves.

This continues to be an excellent show, however, unlike a lot of other fans, I tend not to be too enthusiastic about the muti-part "epic" episodes, which I think sometimes stretch an idea out a little too long, and this season is nothing but multi-part episodes. I actually enjoyed the more self-contained episodes of earlier seasons. Still, the conclusion to Ahsoka's story is pretty good, and she has developed into such an awesome character. I do think some of the stories (especially the first one) don't really hit the right notes, at least for me. It's as if they want to be sophisticated stories, but aren't pulled off well enough, or perhaps they are torn between trying to make more sophisticated stories but also make sure that they are comprehensible and appealing to children, and so it doesn't quite come out as good as if they had just tried to execute on one aspect or the other. The animation and designs have gotten really good too. The visuals on an HDTV are just great. There's also a good amount of extra content, but it's not unexpected; the other seasons all provided a similar set of extra content.

I own all Star Wars Clone Wars seasons and even the animated shorts season 1 & 2. I thought this season was very good with a rebellion similar to the original Trilogy. We got to see more Darth Maul and his brother Savage Opress and the sinister Death Watch. I loved seeing Darth Sidious AKA Chancellor Palpatine in action easily defeating his former now mangled apprentice and his brother. This was another good to great season. I just think it shouldn't have ended before we got to see the set up kidnapping of Palpatine which started EP. 3. I honestly thought they were gonna use that in the end of this season or a Season 6. Maybe we will get it on line like we got to see that Order 66 video on the site. The Ashoka Tano trial showed that the war had truly hurt the Jedi by clouding there vision. I honestly loved that set of eps as we see the "Chosen One" Anakin Skywalker fighting to prove his apprentice was honest. I recommend this to all fans of the series.

Great Content | Disc Recall | Audio Sync Issues

Plain and simple, the product was advertised as a 3-disc set (Error). My set only has two discs. Both discs were purchased late December 2015. There is a noticeable audio sync issue about a half of a second delay on both discs. Had to call Warner Bros. to request replacement discs. Lucky they replaced them as I hadn't gotten around to watching Season 5 until 2017. This product would have received higher stars had the recall not been issued. This is not Best Buy's fault, but that of the publisher and manufacturer. Was disappointed that my purchase of these discs well after initial release still included the defective discs and my understanding is that Season 5 in the CW collection is also an issue. Check your discs with all of your Bluray players to make sure you don't have defects.

The final season of the clone wars came to an unexpected ending. The season attempts to wrap up as many of the plot threads as possible while setting up with the characters for the Revenge of the Sith. The beginning episodes with Darth Maul plot lines are e excellent. The final story arc with Ashoka is moving and unexpected. It is the middle storyline with the Droid squad that seem to lack any real cohesion to the rest of the season. The extra are very bare minimum. Good amount of director commentaries. Wish there was a preview to the new series Rebels and the extra Clone Wars episodes that they plan to air next year. A must for the completelist in you.

This is a great season of the Clone Wars. They all are! Of course there are a few episodes that are a bit below par, but overall, this is must-have for any Star Wars fan. Great viewing for fans young and old and worthy of repeated viewings. Older versions of this Blu-ray set do have some minor sync issues on disc#2 and there is a disc replacement program for this through Warner Bros. Most people will probably not notice this issue as it's quite minor, but it's there. Here's hoping they also release Season Six which thus far has only been available through internet streaming services. Hope for a blu-ray release soon!!

The clone wars series gets better each season. Without spoiling anything, I love the interesting stories woven into the clone wars as each season comes out. I am unable to watch the series in real time so I buy the DVD or blu ray when it comes out. I am a star wars fan and continue to enjoy now into my forties. My kids also love the clone wars and we all can watch this together since there is no language issues and the violence is not bloody or gory. Will continue to enjoy this series as long as it lasts.
