M.2 NGFF SSD to USB-C adapter worked perfectly!
This M.2 NGFF SATA Enclosure with a USB-C plug worked perfectly for me! My work laptop had a problem, and I could no longer boot the laptop. I ordered this in the hope of pulling the M.2 drive and getting off any data that isn’t in my auto backup folders before the drive would be reformatted. It was perfect. Super easy to just unscrew the one screw holding it on the motherboard and rescrew it onto the little adapter board they give you. Then plug in the cable to the board and your USB-C port in your functioning computer. Reads just like an external drive and is super fast to read or write. I included photos of the M.2 drive I used next to the adapter, so you can see the required connections, and I also included one with the M.2 drive sitting on the laptop motherboard just before slipping it back in afterwards, so you can compare what yours looks like.

Be Attentive - NGFF is not compatible with NVMe
Unfortunately, what looked like an implied compatibility with my M.2 2280 drive proved to be an incorrect assumption. While the installation is simple, the enclosure isn't compatible with NVMe drives, and as such I cannot provide a review of how effective the enclosure is. Only purchase this enclosure if you need to mount an original Next Gen Form Factor (NGFF) M.2 SSD. I am not recommending this enclosure simply because NGFF is not longer a common offering.

Good Price and Works As Intended
Had a laptop that unexpectedly died and could not get some of the more recent/not backed up data off the laptop. This encloser worked great for accessing the solid state drive of the old laptop to recover the files I needed. And it doubles now as a nice external USB and storage drive which is an added bonus. Very easy to put together and use; the provided instructions are straightforward and easy to follow. Note: You will need a small screwdriver to open up the enclosure and mount the solid state drive to the device.
