Awesome twist for a classic game!
So chess is a very old but wonderful game! I was really excited about the mash up of my favorite video game with my favorite board game! I was able to share my passion for the game with my nieces and nephews. They wanted to play because they too enjoy Mario and gang. So overall it's really great to introduce young kids into the strategy of chess with a twist on this classic game!

Kids love it!
My kids are learning to play chess and love this game.They also have a regular board which they use a lot, but play this one for fun.

Great game, great way to introduce chess to my kid
I was very pleased with this game. The figures are solid and well done. My 5-year enjoyed learning chess on this set. The only problem we ran in to was that the kids wanted to play with the figurines all the time, and then they would be missing for chess. With really rough non-chess play, the bases came off of some of the pieces. I don't think this was a quality issue, My kids were just really hard on them as action figures. We ended up just buying a second game so we would have one set for chess and one set for toys. And given the price of Mario figurines, and the high quality of the pieces in the set, that was definitely the way to go. The only quality complaint that I have is in the chess board itself. The fold seams in the board wore out very quickly and the board came apart. They really need some way to reinforce it. When we got our second set, we pulled the board out and mounted it fully unfolded to a thin sheet of plexiglass to protect it. Yeah, it is more of a pain to store it now, but it's better than the board falling apart.
