Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
When America's number one NASCAR speed-demon is issued a direct challenge from a gay, French Formula One racer with a hunger for the top spot and a mean talent for tight-cornering, the race is on to become the number one man in all of NASCAR in a full throttle comedy starring Will Ferrell and directed by Anchorman cohort Adam McKay. Ricky Bobby (Ferrell) is a national hero with a "smokin' hot" trophy wife, pair of borderline-abusively precocious sons, and an endless line of endorsement deals filling his mansion with toys and driveway with sports cars and Hummers. His racing partner and lifelong friend Cal Naughton, Jr. (John C. Reilly), never fails to provide him with a hand on the racetrack, frequently performing their trademark "slingshot" maneuver to shoot Ricky into first place, leaving Cal in second. While the public loves these buddies (popularly known by the meaningless childhood nicknames they find so exceedingly cool: "Shake and Bake"), a wedge comes between the two, as Ricky Bobby's longstanding winning-streak is broken by flamboyand French Formula One driver Jean Girard (Sacha Baron Cohen), robbing Ricky of everything in an instant as the trauma leaves him unable to drive. Ricky's wife takes his fortunes while Cal takes his wife, and now he's back with his mother (Jane Lynch) and long-estranged father (Gary Cole). Things look bad for Ricky, but his father was once a race car driver himself, and now with the help of a training montage, a live cougar, and the courage to drive without his gleaming white Wonder Bread endorsement, Ricky might be ready to face the track again. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

My Reward For A Cold, Cold Campout

Man I love my PlayStation3! World's cheapest Bluray player and I even get a free Bluray movie for my first taste of full high-definition glory! But wait- no HDMI cable in the box? Not even component cables?? What gives!? ----- Ok, I'm done beating the poor, dead horse... ----- All joking aside, I was actually very excited to open up the box to my PS3 and find this neat little freebie inside! Kinda made that whole 'campin out all night in the freezing cold' thing seem a little more worth it! As a general neutral to all things Will Ferrell, I didn't expect much from Talladega Nights- though not going into the movie with high expectations is probably what allowed me to enjoy it so much! This is definately one of Ferrell's funnier movies and one I probably would have bought had it not been included when I got my PS3. From the first race, to his fall from grace, Ferrell's unique sense of humor plays the perfect part to it all. Aside from a few so-bad-its-funny special effects (which I'm sure were intentional), there's really not much I can fault this movie for. Pretty good acting and one-liners aplenty, if you are a fan of Will Ferrell, this is a movie I'm sure you'll enjoy over and over again!

Great sports comedy making fun of Nascar, the drivers, and its fans. Being a pseudo fan of the sport and living in the birth place of the sport, I found the stereotypes to be spot on. There are lots of one liners and memorable movie quotes for all of the guys to use with their drinking buddies. This movie is better than Highlander, which we all know won an academy award for being the best movie ever made. That was a movie quote reference if you were wondering. lol :D If you are looking for a great movie with an amazing plot, plot twists, great character development, storyline, acting, and dialogue, then I will not deny, there are better movies. If you are looking to laugh at the hilarity of the stereotypes of us, redneck nascar loving southerners, and enjoy Will Ferrell's sense of humor, then watch this movie.

Where else can you get all of the Ricky Bobby action? This disc has the theatrical version that has been remastered and is vastly superior to its previous release on blu ray that initially came out with PlayStation 3 bundles only. In addition this disc also contains the unrated version along with a digital format and several special features. I bought this disc alone for the upgraded theatrical version, which many people seem to think is far superior to unrated version. The good news is you have both for a fair price. I would definitely recommend this movie to a fan of Ricky Bobby and all of the great one liners in this movie.

This movie is by far the best movie about NASCAR racing ever. Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are ridiculously funny in one of the funniest movies of all time. There are very few moments in this movie where you're not laughing. Another thing that suprised me was how accurate the older race scenes were. In scenes that took place in the 1990s it really looked like older NASCAR racing: the cars, the pit crew, the suits all make these scenes look older than they really are. This movie will appeal not only to NASCAR fans but to anyone with a good sense of humor.

      Extremely Funny

This movie was hilarious, even though I am not a NASCAR fan. Will Ferrell is the best! He and John C. Reilly make a great team (Shake and Bake!). You don't have to be JUST a racing fan to watch this movie. Make sure you watch the outtakes and extended scenes...I literally cried laughing. I'm not sure anyone would buy this movie just because of the higher resolution on Blu-ray. It is just a good, funny movie to have in your collection.

I already had owned the DVD for this movie back when it came out 10 years ago, so it was about time for an upgrade. I love the new features and that it includes both cuts of the movie. I also like the extended cut disc is basically the same disc from 10 years ago so nothing is lost from the older edition. Also the movie is funny as heck! Best $10 spent.

      Just another Ferrel Movie

Will Ferrel is just like Jim Carrey or Adam Sandler. Pretty much plays the same character in every movie. It gets old and boring. The only movies I liked that Ferrel in was Old School and Step Brothers. I have friends who think this is the funniest movie they have ever seen. Those same friends think Monty Python is not funny.

The picture quality in this release is so much better than the original version (for the Theatrical Cut anyway) which, if memory serves me right, was one of the first moves on Blu. It was bundled with the original PS3 anyway which really helped push the format so maybe that's what's making me think that...
