TCL - 43" Class 4-Series 4K UHD HDR Smart Roku TV - 43S455

Before this tv I had a smaller 32” westinghouse that was 10 years old and used my roku device to make it a “smart” tv. I was long overdue for a new tv, this one fits my space, comes with roku installed and the control has the exact buttons for the services I am subscribed to. TV is great & a nice upgrade from my last. I chose this one because I don’t really watch tv as much & when I do, it’s through streaming services like netflix, hulu & disney+. I also watch a lot of youtube on here. Only con I see is with the control. I went through several controls with my last tv because these roku controls tend to go out after some time. Luckily it gets resolved by using the “roku” app control on your smart phone. Control is battery operated. I currently also have an antenna connected to the tv, which works to access regular channels for when my mom wants to watch her novelas.

This TCL is a 43” and has a nice picture and features and menu options.

BestBuy requested this review, so I am submitting it. My only criteria for this TV (to replace an existing one) was 4K and an appropriate size. This 43" TCL Model 43S455 meets those criteria. I think the picture and sound quality are great -- everything I expected. However, I am disappointed, and it is mostly my fault. Based on looking at a half dozen TVs on websites over a couple of months, I knew that any modern 4K TV would be "smart" and that the remote control would emphasize streaming, not direct access to broadcast TV channels. That meant no number keys on the remote control. I also determined that inexpensive "universal" remote controls with number buttons are widely available for every brand of TV, including TCL. However, my research did not reveal that NO such remote control that I can find currently supports this >>2022 TCL Roku<< TV. I purchased (and returned) two that said they worked on all TCL TVs, but they did not operate this TV. I then researched in detail at least a dozen more. In that research, I found NO mention or information on this specific Model 43S455 TV. The couple of reviews of a remote control that mentioned >>TCL Roku<< said the number keys did not work. The only fault I can cite for TCL as a manufacturer is that I find absolutely no documentation, user manual, technical specs, or anything else online about this Model 43S455 other than the inadequate "Let's get started" pamphlet packed in the box with the TV, I found nothing about this TV on Youtube. I can only hope that TCL -- or someone -- publishes online info about a working remote control for this 2022 model in the near future. If you want a streaming Roku TV, you might like this one very well. I don't want that, and I cannot recommend this TV to anyone like myself who wants to select broadcast TV channels with number buttons.

This TV has everything I wanted. A nice clear picture, good sound, Roku. It took me longer to sign into my accounts again than it did to set up the TV itself. I'm getting used to having to point the remote at the TV again but that's minor and it was in the product description. Note that the feet are near the ends so measure your TV stand to make sure it fits.

Had to replace my old tv with another and could only fit a 43" tv in a cabinet. The picture is outstanding. Even though this was put in an office I have been watching a lot more because of the picture. Set up was very easy.

it's not quite as clear a picture as the one i replaced (2 days out of warranty and exactly the same model, just three years old). but easy to set up and works fine. remote is not as user friendly as the third-party model from amazon but that one paired immediately, so i'm using that instead of the remote that came with the tv. also took some tinkering to get the contrast and tint correct.

Great tv for the price. Built in Roku is a plus! I would purchase again. Easy to set up. Sound is decent, picture quality is good. I would recommend it to a few friends.
