Violet is a 17-year-old living in England's rural Isle of Wight and working to help her Polish immigrant single mother. She wants to audition for a singing competition show called Teen Spirit, but her mother refuses to sign the permission forms. Violet then recruits a local drunk who happens to be a former professional opera singer to pose as her manager and coach her. As she advances in the competition, she struggles to stay true to herself.
Creating Music for the Film
Feature Commentary with Director Max Minghella, Producer Fred Berger, and Executive Producer Jamie Bell
Teen Spirit is one of those movies I sort of held off on because although it looked great and heard great things, I thought there were better movies that year. This is a very surprisingly good film. I mean it’s not perfect but it does what it does very well.
Good movie starring Elle Fanning as a girl going after her musical dreams. The movie has good music, much of it performed by Fanning herself, and a good performance from her in the lead. The bluray is lite on extras but the movie itself compensates for that. Overall, I was happy with my purchase!
