Cassie (Chloë Grace Moretz) is a high-school student leading a normal life, including a crush on a football star (Nick Robinson), when extraterrestrials invade Earth and kill millions of humans. I'll start by saying that I have seen the movie and it is a good movie, which is what I rated. That being said, I had issues with the actual advertising on the blu-ray case. I have a huge digital movie collection, and this case said it included the ultraviolet digital copy. When I opened the case at home, it did not include the sheet with the digital copy code on it.
So I went to the Best Buy store and explained the issue. They let me go get another one from the shelf, that also had the sticker on it saying it included the digital copy. I opened it at the service desk in front of the BB employee, and it also didn't have the digital copy paper with the code. I went back and got the last one they had on the shelf. Again it had the promise of the digital copy on the outside of the case, and again opened it in front of the BB employee, and still no digital copy included. The date on the digital copy sticker on the outside was not past the expiration date.
If you are just looking for the movie and don't care about the digital copy, you are good to go. If you are expecting the digital copy, and decide to buy this, you may want to open it at the store in front of an employee.
Okay while not the best book to movie adaptation I did rather enjoy it. Yes I am that nerd who compares the movie to the book. I can't help it. I read the book before seeing the movie, not with the intention to see the movie directly after reading the book. They naturally toned down SO many things that were in the book, but overall I found the movie rather enjoyable. Good storyline and good execution of said story line and good actors. My advice is if you see the movie don't read the book! :-)

An action packed Sci-Fi movie with heart
Four waves of increasingly deadly attacks have left most of Earth in ruin. Against a backdrop of fear and distrust, Cassie is on the run, desperately trying to save her younger brother. As she prepares for the inevitable and lethal fifth wave, Cassie teams up with a young man who may become her final hope - if she can only trust him.
The 5th Wave is a really exciting sci-fi movie with great ideas, its a movie that don't need to show much in the way of aliens and high tech stuff like most sci-fi, instead we get a basic underline plan of what is happening and the movie is driven by a wonderfully strong young cast of great actors and actresses and an enjoyable story of family and saving those we care about, the movie of course has some top notch effects especially when we see the early waves destroy the earth, the movie has an invasion of the body snatchers feel to it mixed with other things, the movie is well paced and builds up really well over the run time and keeps you interested mainly due to a strong cast especially the lovely Chloe Grace Moretz who is a fantastic young actress who is probably at her best in this movie, the rest of the cast is good too, the soundtrack is great too, this is a top notch sci-fi that's really worth checking out if you want something that's original, easy on the brain and not too over the top, and has a bit more heart to the story.
I bought this movie during the Black Friday savings, and was not sure what to expect. I remembered seeing the previews for it, and after watching it, I would recommend it to other people that enjoy sci-fi movies. It keeps you thinking, when you think you have a clue, something changes and redirects you. In the end, things are probably what you would guess early on, but the movie makes you question it throughout.
The movie starts out interesting and ends with action sequences but is slow in the middle. Chloe Grace Moretz holds the film together throughout but the parts played by supporting actors appears to be weak and unconvincing. It is a shame that Liev Shrieber didn't have a stronger role. All in all, an entertaining film about how aliens may go about taking over Earth.

Overall it is a great movie, and I got it at a great price. I'm just angry that it didn't come with the digital copy that both the image when purchasing and the packaging when opened both clearly stated it would have. Don't purchase if you think you're actually going to get your digital copy.
I like Chloë Grace Moretz a lot , this isn't her best movie but I still think it deserves a better rating than what they give it . I enjoyed the movie & alien surprises . . . and I assume the ending was to set up a sequel . Then again I was more than disappointed when Super Mario Bros didn't get their sequel . Did someone say the book was better ?
