BBC once again brings the magic of their great documentaries to blu ray. If you have seen Earth, Life, or Frozen Planet then you more or less will enjoy Blue Planet. Broadcast in 2001 Blue Planet focuses mainly on the oceans of your orbiting space ball. From the deep ocean floor to the reefs and coast Blue Planet offers a wide range of destinations to explore. As stated in the bottom right hand corner of the case. This is a up convert from the sd (standard definition) broadcast. Will not as good as the other BBC documentaries Blue Planet still offers overall good picture quality and decent sound. For those that enjoy documentaries or David Attenborough then I highly suggest you give this a watch. Wait for the price to go down as $37.99 is a bit high. I would pick this up for around $20 as it isn't true HD and BB usually puts these on sale much later on.

This documentary was made before Planet Earth. This documentary shows you how much of life there is in the sea but yet many mysteries. When the documentary was first broadcasted it was way before 4K tv's and HD blu rays. So some visuals may not be that stunning but it's a pretty decent up-conversion, it's okay visual quality at most. The documentary offers hours of insights of the sea, Almost 6 and a half hours. I have always been quite interested in marine life so this was a must have for me

Really good content from the BBC Natural History Unit, but the lackluster video quality belies the fact that this series pre-dates the phenomenal Planet Earth and does not seem much better than an old DVD of the series would have been. Probably one of the most comprehensive documentary series about underwater life, but not a great set of discs to show off your new home theater set up.

I love these planet series of Blu-ray Discs! If you love the ocean and marine life then these videos are right up your alley. My family and I love to watch these before bed as a nice calming wrap up to our day. I definitely recommend buying these but only in Blu-ray. I'm a fanatic about high def and these videos really show the beauty of the sea when filmed in 1080p.

The cinematography in this series is superb. The mystery and majesty of the oceans is delightfully captured on film for us to enjoy. A great educational experience for kids and adults. David Attenborough's calm and soothing voice is like sleeping pills if watched close to bedtime, which I think is a huge benefit also.

To see the angler fish outside of the small pictures shown in textbooks is truly a treat, but only a needle in the vast haystack of the sea that Blue Planet covers. From the open ocean to tidal pools, coral seas to the deepest darkest part of the ocean itself, the BBC takes the viewer on an almost magical journey through the ocean

It suffers from lower definition sources here and there, but for such an amazing series you cannot go wrong! The 3rd disc contains four other specials not related to the original Blue Planet, but they're very informative on the current state of fisheries, the Amazon River, and fun for wildlife guide enthusiasts.

I love all the BBC nature series, and have particularly enjoyed Blue Planet. But since it isn't on TV very often even On-Demand I decided to get it on video. And getting it on Blu-Ray was the best decision. Love the video quality, and certainly enjoy it without commercial interruptions.
