    Synopsis

    The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
    Four siblings -- Edmund (Skandar Keynes), Lucy (Georgie Henley), Peter (William Moseley), and Susan (Anna Popplewell) -- are sent from their London home to the country estate of an eccentric professor in order to ensure their safety during World War II. The house is very dull, except for a large, ornate wardrobe discovered by young Lucy during a game of hide-and-seek. Venturing inside of it in the hopes of finding a hiding place, Lucy is transported to a snowy alternate universe: a magical world called Narnia. The land is populated by talking animals and ruled over by the benevolent lion god Aslan (voiced by Liam Neeson), but sadly, the world is also in a state of perpetual winter. The white witch Jadis (Tilda Swinton), lustful for power and governed by narcissism, has cursed Narnia with a tyrannical decree that it will always be winter but never Christmas. Now, the children must fight alongside Aslan for the salvation of Narnia, but one of them, seduced by the charisma of the white witch, may choose to fight on the wrong side. ~ Cammila Collar, Rovi

      A Roaringly Great Movie

      The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is a masterpiece, meticulously close to the original book. Both Narnia and World War II England are shown very realistically, and we experience both the horror and the beauty of both lands. Tilda Swinton as Jadis is absolutely splendid, as are Georgie Henley, Skandar Keynes, William Moseley, and Anna Popplewell. Liam Neeson performs the voice of Aslan in a very elegant, subtle way, with the occasional barely perceptible, but very leonine, growl, when needed. Indeed, Neeson must also be remembered for having previously played the very Aslan-like Oskar Schindler in Schindler's List! James Cosmo's Father Christmas can easily be imagined giving a sermon as well as giving plenty of tangible presents. The Four-Disc Extended Edition is well worth the extra money because it shows plenty of good behind-the-scenes material, including an excellent biography of Lewis and some good insights provided by Lewis' stepson Douglas Gresham. The Extras Section also contains some historical World War II background that I found very helpful. There are also some whimsical treats in the Extras section that make me smile! Last, but not least, it comes packaged in a beautiful silver metallic box suitable, in my opinion, for display at Christmas and Easter! This version of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is the best, and money spent on it is money well spent!

      What an Awesome Movie!

      I remember watching the BBC version of this movie in grade school (I'm 26 now) and it used to intrigue me. I absolutely loved the storyline and the characters. I never forgot that movie as I got older. A few years ago, I heard rumors about the creation of a new 'Chronicles' movie and was elated. I just hoped that a modern day spin on the book wouldn't leave me with a bad taste in my mouth. The day the movie came out at theaters I saw this. It was great and was everything that I had hoped it would be. The action scenes were awesome. This movie was so good that I bought it on DVD the day it came out. Though I already have this on DVD, I am still going to buy it on Blu-Ray. I can't wait to see how good it looks on my big screen tv. I forced my little cousins to watch this one day and they loved it (though the lion & witch scared the youngest one a little bit). I regrettably have still not seen 'Prince Caspian' but I will definitely buy that on Blu-Ray soon.

      C S Lewis would be proud of the excellent quality of this movie. It includes great morals, excellent acting, story line, characters and you can actually learn about good truths while enjoying a great action movie at the same time. The story is so well written; the music, characters , costumes as well as the timing carries you along to enjoy this well made movie. It sparks my interest to see the sequels. I never read the books, but the movie has peaked my interest. I am a huge "Lord of the Rings" fan & didn't realize that I would enjoy this movie as much as I did. Plus there is so much moral & spiritual depth that I was not expecting which added to a richer experience.

      Great family movie

      This is a family movie that all can enjoy and take some moral message from. Based very closely on the book by C. S. Lewis, this version of the story has some great special effects and is very interesting to watch. The youngest of children will get the most basic ideas about selfishness and loyalty from the story, while older audience members will understand the deeper spiritual meanings implied. We have enjoyed every version of this movie, but this one is even more believeable and therefore more entertaining as well.

      Quality adaptation of a classic book

      While not a perfect film, this was nonetheless a great adapatation of the classic story. As with all movies based on books, some liberties were taken with the story to allow for better time and flow. Fortunately, these were minor and not too distracting, and the result was a great movie. The special effects and action sequences were outstanding as well. The extras on this disc were not particularly impressive (but then again, I don't usually spend much time on the extras anyway, so who am I to say?)

      Narnia=Best Blu-ray

      Narnia is the most beautiful movie ever made on Blu-ray. The picture quality is better than theater on my 4071FX with 1000HD with 120 hz turned low and on Game Mode. The war camp scene is breathtaking as are the battle scenes. I love all of my 50+ Blu-rays and this one is in the top 2...along with Casino Royale as far as movie content+PQ+AQ are concerned. Buy it as you will not regret it and enjoy this great movie for years to come as Blu-ray discs are indestructible!!!

      I absolutely love this movie! Every time I watch this movie I see something different, which is amazing. What I like most about this movie is how acurately it kept with the details that were seen in the book. There obviously were some discrepancies, but there weren't that many to take that much affect on the film's overall greatness. Also a bonus of this movie was having James McAvoy playing the role of Mr. Tumnus. He is gorgeous!

      A great fantasy movie that the whole family can enjoy. The cinematography and special effects are really terrific. The battle scenes are done in such a way that they are not graphic, but believable. Loved the character development, and seemed true to CF Lewis characters. The plot was clear, and message of the story was easily discernible. Clearly a movie that is timeless and can be enjoyed for years to come.
