As adapted from a popular 1934 novel by hard-boiled fiction icon Dashiell Hammett, the Thin Man movies brought two of Hammett's most enduring characters - married, wisecracking Prohibition Era detectives Nick and Nora Charles - to the big screen. The film series formally began in 1934, with The Thin Man, directed by W.S. Van Dyke; follow ups included 1936's After the Thin Man (which co-starred James Stewart), Another Thin Man (1939), Shadow of the Thin Man (1941), The Thin Man Goes Home (1944) and Song of the Thin Man (1947). All of the said films appear in this box set.
