Eminem, The Slim Shady LP, released in 1999. Bought it in a Best Buy store in August, 2016 for $6. 20 tracks, appears to be the standard original release from Aftermath, Interscope, and Web Entertainment, though the wrap around the jewel CD case had a stamp saying "Made in Mexico." All artwork and liner notes were in English and seemed to identify it as the original 1999 release. Slim Shady LP in 1999 and Marshall Mathers LP in 2000 are the two albums that made Eminem famous and cemented his status as an all-time great MC. Around the time of Slim Shady LP, his lyrics and delivery were captivating in such a unique way compared to his mainstream peers. His rapping and songwriting style changed after these two albums, which was IMO for the worse. The tracks produced by Dr. Dre on Slim Shady LP are excellent ("My Name Is", "Guilty Conscience", "Role Model"). The Bass Brothers produced most of the others; I happen to like their production, but I imagine their beats are not for everyone. Only two features on the album, one from Dr. Dre on "Guilty Conscience" and one from a young Royce Da 5-9 on the excellent "Bad Meets Evil," a track which was the origin of Eminem and Royce subsequently forming a duo under that same name. Aside from the usual profanity, misogyny, hedonism, idolatry, etc. that is pervasive in mainstream rap, Eminem was prone in this era to going overboard with a few instances of horrorcore tracks that I find thoroughly unenjoyable. These tracks are made all the more disturbing by the fact that he is such a gifted storyteller. There are probably a couple moments like that on Slim Shady LP, though the most notable example, "Kim", is from Marshall Mathers LP. Otherwise, this is a classic album full of classic tracks.

Eminem first introduced his "Slim Shady" persona on this 1997 EP, this grew into Eminem's historic 1999 rap LP album of the same name. The LP's production was handled by the Bass Brothers, Dr. Dre, and Eminem. The beats have been compared to both the West Coast hip hop style and also G-funk musical styles. Many of the songs from The Slim Shady LP are written from that perspective, Eminem's alter ego character, "Slim Shady".

Epic throwback classic had 2 recop this is the 1 that really made me want to rap and was highly influential into Making Slim Phast Who I am 2day. The lyrics and beats are phenomenal Lots of swearing and name calling outs Interesting creative artwork that goes well with this piece. To the Extreme & The Slim Shady LP paved the way for future white rappers and gave us hope especially with Em's longevity and great success

My wife wanted this CD so I picked it up along with some other stuff. Best Buy price matches pretty much every one so whenever we want to purchase a movie or CD or other electronic we just look around for the best deal online then go get it a best Buy I feel there handling of bigger ticket items is better then Walmart and such so we always buy from them.

I got this while I was on a day trip since I didn't know stations in the area I was in. I knew the first few songs, as everybody usually does. But the rest of the songs I didn't , but Eminem never lets us down! Especially for the price, if you're an Eminem fan, I'd definitely get this CD.

This album is not for anyone under the age of 18, but if you like Eminem and like Old school Rap with a new school twist than this album is for you. Eminem or AKA Slim Shady drops some serious heat on this album. Buyers Beware that you might not be ready for this album like the rest of the world when it dropped.

This debut from Eminem is pretty much the predecessor to his storied music career. If you became a fan or were introduced to Eminem through his later albums, this of course is a bit different in terms of delivery and the actual way he raps (By Recovery there was an obvious switch).
