    Synopsis

Season one of the "cartoon commercial" The Transformers begins with the three-part "More Than Meets the Eye," which explains how the two warring Transformers armies from the planet Cybertron, Optimus Prime's good-guy Autobots and Megatron's bad-guy Decepticons, were placed in suspended animation when they attempted to expand their battle to prehistoric Earth. "Thawing out" in 2005 A.D., the combatants resume their war as if nothing had happened, with the Autobots gaining a bit of an advantage by winning two human earthlings, Spike and Sparkplug, over to their side. A later episode, "Roll for It," introduces another major human ally of the Autobots, computer whiz Chip Chase. Subsequent season-one highlights include the three-part story, "The Ultimate Doom," wherein Megatron enlists the aid of a mad (Do you hear? Mad!) human scientist in attempting to bring Cybertron into Earth's orbit. And "A Plague of Insecticons" introduces a brand-new threat to Autobots and Decepticons alike -- not to mention a fresh new line of Hasbro-licensed Transformer toys! ~ Hal Erickson

I have been waiting for this one since before the first live-action movie hit theaters! In this series, you see Optimus Prime, Megatron and the rest of the Transformers cast in thier original forms. And the focus on this series is more on the Transformers themselves than on the Human characters. Each episode moves at a fast and furious pace and features more than enough action and transformations to satisfy any Transformers fan. This series even features characters that have yet to appear in the live-action movies. Most notably the Dinobots, Autobots who transform into dinosaurs! This is a great, and essential, addition to any Transformers fan's video library. If you watched the original cartoon (like I did), you can relive all the excitment of the original series. Transformers has lots of action, but it is not a violent series, so if you're thinking this is a good gift for children, you're thinking right! There are a few issues with picture quality in a some scenes, owing to the age and quality of the source material. But overall the restoration staff did an exemplary job on bringing this back to original broadcast quality. This is probably the best quality we're ever going to see for this series. Highly recommended!

      More Than Meets the Eye

For an older generation of fans, Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye, the original series, is the best incarnation and original version of the series. Combining humor with quality animation, every series that has come after it from the Energon series to Cybertron to Armada, none of these shows have lived up to the originality of the original. It just goes to prove that not even the Japanese anime studios could produce a new series on par with the original. The only standout in the original series, Peter Cullen, who also voices Optimus Prime in the Live Action movies, was the original voice actor for the animated series and he's what fans equate with the Transformers series. Even such greats as Scatman Caruthers as Jazz, the Autobot ... you just can't improve on that. With such classic Autobots as Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Jazz, Prowl, Ratchet, Ironhide, the Dinobots and even Jetfire, you can't go wrong with a series that is as non-violent as this one. I plan on picking this one up when Best Buy opens. And better yet, Season 2 Part 1 is due out in September.

This is a must have to understand the transformers and to watch the vintage episodes man when I watched it. It truly brought back some awesome memories of playing with the toys and being into the autobots and the decepticons. Great episodes. decent sound. love the commentary disc it comes with. You get a back ground how the hasbro line came up with Transformers and the commercials wow truly classic...those had me recalling all the toys I had from that Hasbro line. love the menu set up is easy to use to watch your favorite episode. Thanks for coming out with this collection can't wait for more seasons. this is a MUST BUY if your a Transformers fan! "Autobots Transform and roll out"

This is the greastest cartoon series of all time. I grew up watching these cartoons and they are still just as good and entertaing to watch as an adult. My soon to be seven year old daughter love watching this with me. This is the greatest of all the Transformer series they have made. If you like the big screen version you will love this too. I can't wait to get the rest of the seasons when they come out. Give this series a try. You will get hooked no matter if you are young or old. See what started all the buzz 25 years ago. The DVD extras are pretty cool too.

Excellent reference guide for the motion picture

This is the original Transformers from the 1980's which had a serious cult following during that period. It finally developed into the motion picture that we know today. The story line is better than the current animated releases. If you want to understand the true origins of the Transformers, this is the series to purchase. There use to be a complete series edition, but it was discontinued. After reviewing this edition, you will notice the motion picture errors. Review the animated motion picture version too.

Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against Latin movies. I just didn't like the fact that there was no way to switch languages from English from Latin. If you understand Latin. Then. This DVD is is just for you. If you don't understand a word of Latin. Then. Don't bother buying this DVD.

More than meets the eye. Transformers meant the world to all of us who grew up in the 80s and these cartoons help us relive that feeling all over again.
