    • IP Camera: true (An Internet Protocol (IP) camera is able to record and display image/video data via the internet, without need for a local recording device.)
    • Camera Iris: Automatic (The iris is the opening on a camera that controls how much light reaches its image sensor, which in turn affects image/video clarity. Fixed and manual irises are generally suited for locations with consistent levels of light. Automatic and "P" (precise) irises automatically adjust in response to changing levels of light and are suited for a wider variety of environments. "P" irises feature additional capabilities for improving footage clarity.)
    • Image Sensor Type: CMOS (CCD and CMOS are the two main technologies used in image sensors. CCD, the older of the two types, turns analog light signals into digital pixels. This conversion happens without distortion, resulting in high-quality images. Newer CMOS sensors use transistors at each pixel to move electrical charges. CMOS sensors are typically less expensive, but also require more light to create distortion-free images.)
    • Focal Length Control: Fixed focal (Fixed cameras do not allow for adjustments to the focal length, and typically provide a wide angle view. Vari-focal cameras allow manual adjustments, while motorized zoom cameras can be adjusted from either the camera or control center.)

Wireless cameras still require cables for receiving power but are able to transmit footage via a wireless network.)

    • Frequency Band: 2.4 GHz (Bands may be grouped into categories such as low- and high-band VHF (Very High Frequency), low- and high-band UHF (Ultra High Frequency), or certain frequency channels (measured in MHz or GHz). Q: What is the power source for this camera?

A: The camera comes with a cable attached to it that has a USB male end on it for power that plugs into a 110v USB wall adapter that comes with it (just like cell phones use). So you do need a 110v house power source near by. For my outdoor installations I plugged several extension cords into one electrical outlet in the attic, ran each cord to the location of the camera outside, drilled a hole near each camera and ran the camera's USB type cord into the attic to the extension cord.

Q: Can I see the camera live on my google home hub?

A: Yes, you can issue a voice command to your Google Home Hub to show the live view of the camera. Regards, TP-Link Support

Q: What's the coldest temperature outdoor that the camera can take

A: -20°C~43°C (-4°F~109.4°F) according to tp link kasa website specs

Q: Can you add a longer USB cord as an "extension" to the origina,l to reach the outlet?

A: TP-Link makes a 15 foot water proof extension attachment. I have two of them in use and they work great.

Q: Is it 5g compatible

A: If by "5G" you are referring to 5GHz WiFi, then yes; the camera supports dual-band WiFi connectivity (2.4GHz and 5GHz) Regards, TP-Link Support

Q: Can several cameras be connected and viewed on a large monitor simultaneously?

A: No; however you can view the cameras via the Kasa app on your smart phone, and can view each camera individually on a TV via Chromecast or Alexa. Regards, TP-Link Support

Q: Why are there no 4K or even 2K standalone indoor cameras? (that don't need a base station or recorder)

A: Our Kasa Cams are currently designed for 1080p HD video recording; however we appreciate your interest in higher resolutions and will gladly share it with our Kasa team. Regards, TP-Link Support
