    Synopsis

    Vantage Point
Forest Whitaker, Dennis Quaid, William Hurt, and Matthew Fox star in director Pete Travis' Rashomon-style thriller in which an assassination attempt on the president of the United States is detailed from five unique perspectives. As the president arrives in Salamanca, gunshots ring out. An American tourist (Whitaker) has captured footage of the would-be assassin on videotape, and now, as the stories of the other four witnesses unfold, each essential piece of the puzzle quickly falls into place. Only when all of the stories are told will the chilling truth to this shocking crime finally emerge. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Good, but the concept makes it repetitive

In Vantage Point you must watch the movie from the vantage point of a bunch of different people. The way the movie is done is by watching it from each person's different view one by one. Then at the end of the movie after you have pieced it all together, you get to watch the outcome. Vantage Point is actually very well done with some great action scenes. Also, the movie is interesting and each person's perspective let's you piece things together at a nice pace. However, watching what is literally the same scenes over and over from difference perspectives does get a little redundant. Also, as much as the movie tries to not let you in on the plot it's not that hard to guess who is who, and what side they are on. I would also warn that there are some definite political undertones concerning the war on terrorism and our current president so if you don't want that in your entertainment time, this isn't the movie for you. Overall, a very good movie but I really couldn't get over the repeating from different views. While watching I was hoping that we were done with the different views and we would be able to get on with it. But then there would be another view. I would recommend seeing it though as other's could find the style exciting. The Blu-Ray quality was good as the explosions sounded very good, and the video quality was on par. I did not take the time to watch the extras as the movie itself did not interest me enough to.

This movie has been highly criticized for a one hour beginning but you have to give the makers of this movie credit for trying something new. At the very beginning the president is assassinated around noon in Spain. Then for over 45 minutes this same sequence of events is reshown from different people's point of view. Each time more is explained until you can piece together exactly what happened. I like the different Vantage Points of the different people although some seemed a bit unimportant. After the hour long opening the movie goes into a cool car chase while the rest of the plot falls into place. This movie was pretty good but at times it can seem a bit annoying watching the same thing over and over again.

This was a great movie, first my wife and I rented it, after we rented it a few weeks later we bought it on BD. After watching it again on BD, we found that there was SO MUCH MORE that we had actually missed in the DVD version, vs the BD version. BD is A LOT more clear, and VERY stunning. The plot line is great, an out of shape older agent versus an in shape / younger double agent. This movie gets better and better with each time that you watch it. you will find yourself finding things that you missed from each time you watch it. This movie will not just sit on your shelf.

This an okay film, but it was overall very short (1 hr 30 min) and lacked much suspense or mystery. Basically the format of the film is going over the same 30 or so minutes again and again from perspectives of different characters to try to get the full picture. This really was not necessary because you already figure out what is going on early in the film. Additionally, I felt there should be more to this story to justify making it a movie. That said it is mildly entertaining and the acting is pretty decent.

      Even the Gimmick fails

This movie which had the idea to base itself around people's different perspectives completely forgets that it's using that gimmick for it's last quarter. Even when it does use the technique, the film relies more on the decision of when to cut from one person's POV then actually using the different POV's as pieces of a puzzle. If you set the POV idea aside then the film still relies on flat characters to produce a narrowly drawn plot line. Though certainly not one of the worst films of the year, it is not worth your time.

They gave away one of the main plot points in the previews. Othere than that you will either love or hate this movie. It will be iether aggravating or suspenseful. If you're clever enough to figure out the plot, like any movie, suspect anyone and everyone, you may not enjoy this film as much. The one bad thing, once you watch the movie there is almost no point to seeing it a again, except to catch the bits you might have missed, but to watch it more than that, low replay value. Great movie for a group to talk about later.

Vantage Point is a great film that's full of action, suspense, drama T, and many cliffhangers. How the several points of view come together in the end is simply writing genius. I would strongly recommend watching this movie. However, once you watch it, you know what happens and it isn't very good to watch again. But, whether you buy it or not, SEE THIS MOVIE!

This is a entertaining movie that has a great idea and plot. However, the acting is mediocore and the script is sub-par. The idea is great and it could be turned into an even better movie. However, on that note, it is an entertaining movie and I recommend seeing it. It is only 1 and 1/2 hours so it is not too long and it is worth seeing.
