Amazing
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendBest Buy recommends against it as it's too tricky for their installers. But I had it installed by someone else and it's amazing for a convertible type car. Anyone comes with in 6 inches of car it warns them and notifies me. If they reach inside car the alarm goes off I recommend this over the touchy shock sensor that can go off in parking garages or big trucks. This in addition to hood switch makes a nice setup.

Excellent addition to my Viper Alarm
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI have seven vehicles and I got all of them with Viper alarms because to me it is the best. When you buy it buy them with Best Buy because is something needs adjustment there is a Best Buy anywhere and they will take care of free of charge. Also there are so many additions you can add to it making your property safe without a guard. You will know from you viper is something is going on. The only thing I have not done as of yet is to make it work with a Smart phone. Great product.

It's everything it's ment to be.
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendIf you plan on installing this item yourself...good luck! I had it professionally installed and it took several hours but, I am completly satisfied with the results. It is very sensitive at times but does its job well.

Great Add-on to Viper 350HV System
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendInnitially, I did not add this upon installation of primary alarm system a few months ago and the crime rate has gone up exponentially and had my motorcycle's license plates taken last night, which is only a foot or so secured to a post in carport next to car and HAD I had this Proximity Alarm on, I would have been alerted to thier dastadly deeds so had it added-on the 350HV system and even with tinted windos, it works great, giving me much more peace of mind! It does what it's supposed to do, with the Best Buy installer doing a great job as he has with all my installations and could not be happier. I would say if one is putting an alarm system on your car, do not neglect this proximity alarm for added security. Another great thing about the 350HV System is it is effortlessly upgradable at anytime!

The proximity sensor works great
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI just had a proximity sensor installed in my Mazda Miata today to help deter people from stealing when the convertible top is down. The proximity sensor works great! And it warns you when you get close and the siren goes off if you ignore the warning and you get closer. Also Ryan my installer was great and explained everything in great detail.

Q: QuestionDo I have to have an alarm system plus this device? I want to us this strickly as a motion detector..
Asked by Shar.
- A:Answer To the best of my knowledge as a low voltage electronics technician, the answer is yes, you need to have the "brains" or controller for this add on device. Power and signal transmission comes from the controller. The controller interprets the signal coming from the unit. Keep in mind that is not a true motion detector. It reads disturbances in the field that it generates, both in the vehicle and around the vehicle. By trial and error you will find what settings work best for you. We found, that in order to keep false alarms to a minimum, we had to really dial down on the sensitivity. If you want a true motion detector ( they don't really detect motion, just rapid changes in temperature in the area that they are looking at, floor heaters have a habit of activating motion detector alarms). Then I would get a 12vdc small motion detector either on-line or from an electronics store. A motion detector really doesn't do much unless it activates a relay or switch that causes something else to happen - like flashing lights, siren or whatever.
