Q: Will this install in a new imac 27” desktop?
A: Hi 2BAcowgirl, Thank you for showing your interest in WD drive. In order to check the compatibility, we would suggest you to please contact the apple support. Need Help? Please see our "'Contact Us" page for information.
Q: Why only for desktops? Why not for notebook or laptop?
A: I have the 1TB model in may Asus ROG 703GL. My laptop had a heatsink cover for two additional NVME drives. When I removed that to put the NVME drive in, I did not put it back as this drive has its own heatsink. There are laptops that it will work with, however most laptops nowadays are so thin that this drive will not fit without the heatsink. My laptop however, is big and heavy (10.2Lbs), and can fit larger components such as these NVME drives.
A: No, need gen 4. Will want 5,500 mbps speed, but the PS5 might take less. See a previous question for more details.
Q: Will this work with the PS5?
A: I will say no based off a YouTube video where someone put in a gen 3 PCIe; the system did not load up and asked for him to remove the PCIe. In addition to needing a gen 4 PCIe, Sony recommends 5,500 mbps. This one has 3,400 mbps. So you'll want not only a gen 4 PCIe, but one that can reach 5,500 mbps. https://youtu.be/Nul_y0nBQ50 Note: screenshot and YT video do not test this specific card, but the result will likely be the same for any gen 3 PCIe
