Easiest backup device ever.
||Posted .The 1-1/2 year old Windows-based PC I’ve owned had always given “reminders” that a backup task needed to be set up. Best Buy happened to have a Deal of the Day for this 4TB device for just under $100! Ordered online and it shipped fast. Once hooked up, the PC immediately “saw” it. I then went through with setting up a backup task using the already installed prompts to do so. It was just that easy! The only drawback was the fact that my USB 3.0 jack was on the backside of the PC, in close quarters with my desk installation and the small portable hard drive only comes with an 18” dedicated USB cable, making it necessary to concoct spacers to raise a shelf so that I could set the device on top of the PC cabinet. Your computer layout may be better suited to deal with the VERY short USB cable included with this device. For 4TB of storage, you can’t beat the price!

FRIGGIN AWESOME DUDES
||Posted .You have to run the built-in software before you can save anything to the drive but once that is done you are good to go. ON MAC: you may mysteriously get locked out from the drive (file saving blocked) but you can overcome that by granting the Mac USER account access (RIGHT CLICK ON DRIVE ICON, GET INFO, SHARING AND PERMISSIONS). Just grant the user permission...viola!

Huge amount of storage in a very small package
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This external hard drive is very small, yet has 4TB of storage. I partitioned the drive into 2 separate partitions, with a clone backup on one partition and my Mac Time Machine backup on the other partition.

Simple solution!
||Posted .Ran out of space for my iTunes library. Bought this drive, plugged it in, and transferred iTunes to it. Bought two sided tape and now this drive rides on the top of my Mac. Never a problem.

Q: QuestionWhat's the difference between WD's easystore series and My Passport series? Why the price difference? Is the functionality and reliability the same?
Asked by Vincent.
- A:Answer If "the Easystore series does not have built-in encryption/ password protection utilities. Additionally, the Easystore drives are not of as high a quality and come with a shorter warranty period". Then why is the Easystore more expensive than the Passport when the Passport has better features?

Q: QuestionIs the external hard ok to use for my PS4 pro ?

Q: QuestionWill this work with my xbox one ?
Asked by Chris.
- A:Answer Yes, Xbox 1 supports third party external hard drives to be used to serve as either the main storage or backup storage. I know this, because I am currently using (2) 4TB seagates on both of my xbox 1's and they work perfectly fine. I have over 90 games, and its barely over 40% full. As long as the external drive has a USB connection, you will be able to connect it to the xbox to format the drive to work with the xbox.

Q: QuestionCan this be used for a ps4 system as well?
Asked by Nid.
- A:Answer Yes. I currently use it for my PS4 and my PS4 pro. You just have to format the hard drive once you connect it to the ps4, but its super simple and anyone can do it. You literally just follow the steps and takes about 1 minute or so.

Q: QuestionIf I am planning on reformat this for a MAC, would I be able to store files and backups on it or only Backups or only files?
Asked by ElenaVam.
- A:Answer You can do both, when you first hook it up to your mac you will have to reformat it. Afterwards it will ask you if you want to use it with time machine. Select yes and you can store your files and time machine backups together.

Q: QuestionIt's showing 3.63 TBs out of box. Shouldn't it be closer to 4.0TBs? ......................How big are 4T usually? (It's NTFS with less than 1GB of software from WD.)
Asked by Curls.
- A:Answer I read the answer someone gave about an indexing table and chuckled as that is the wrong answer. The reason the drive doesn't show as 4TB in your OS is because, since the beginning of time, hard drive manufactures consider 1 kilobyte as 1,000 bytes, 1 megabyte as 1,000 kilobytes, 1 gigabyte as 1,000 megabytes and 1 terabyte are 1,000 gigabytes. That is a marketing gimmick. In reality 1 terabyte is 1,024 gigabytes and so on down the line. That means manufactures consider 1 terabyte as 1,000,000,000,000 bytes, but in reality 1 terabyte is 1,099,511,627,776 bytes, because computers are binary systems (powers of 2). So a 4 TB labeled drive isn't actually 4 TB, it's actually a bit less, because manufactures are using the wrong value to represent gigabytes, terabytes, etc. as a marketing gimmick.
