Director Richard Linklater’s dramedy is based on Maria Semple’s 2012 novel of the same name. When Bernadette Fox (Cate Blanchett) mysteriously vanishes before a family trip to Antarctica, her resourceful teenage daughter goes through all the textual traces of her mother’s past to find her. It features Kristen Wiig, Judy Greer, Laurence Fishburne, and Troian Bellisario in supporting roles.~Augustine Chay
I had been struggling to find this film available to buy since it first came out (it was constantly not available in most major retailers and sold overpriced by resellers)...so, almost a year later, glad I was able to find it at Best Buy - and on sale at a great price as well!
While probably not Richard Linklater's most popular film, it was still one of the films I personally enjoyed the most of the year and would recommend, especially to anyone who is a fan of Cate Blanchett as she delivers an underrated great performance. Personally happy with my purchase!
I found this movie to have some good acting and fun story of a woman who is out of touch and relied on an assistant app for all her "tasks" but still missing connections outside her family. Kate Blanchett did a great job with this character and her adventures to find a "purpose" after her career hit bottom.. Nice family re-connecting story and great ending. Even my husband liked it!
I'd be lying if I said i didn't buy this movie solely for Cate Blanchette (YUM!!!). That being said its a good film. Its a great story about rediscovering ones self just before you hit a breaking point.
