An impeller is a low-profile cone at the bottom of the tub that uses fins, cones, or discs to create motion. Q: is this washer an HE, meaning without agitator?

A: Yes, it is. It is my first experience with an HE washer. It uses a surprisingly small amount of water and just sort of flips the cloths around in a manner you'd think isn't cleaning them well. But the concept is that the water then has a MUCH higher concentration of cleaner in it. The cloths seem to come out clean after all, and it is so gentle that in the dryer there is WAY less lint in the trap and the cloths are noticeably softer. So far so good, had mine for a couple of months now.

Q: has anyone washed a king size comforter with this washer?

A: Yes, I washed my kind sized comforter with no problems. Being that the washer doesn't have a big agitator to contend with, just loading the comforter in was a breeze. Before the machine starts it does this "thing" where it spins one way and then the other. I believe it's weighing the load (because it does it every time) and tends to balance it at that time, too. I'd recommend this washer to anyone. It's pretty, too.

Q: What is the height with the door open?

A: The height with the lid open is 55 inches. Hopefully this information is beneficial to you. Thank you for your inquiry regarding our Whirlpool appliances!

Q: Does anyone else think this washer is extreamly loud? Also my clothes almost never come out clean even on the heavy or bulky load

A: Monica, we are terribly sorry to hear this. Please make sure you are not putting items directly over the wash plate in the middle but around the side walls. If you are still having issues, we would recommend contacting Whirlpool® at 1-800-253-1301. We are available weekdays, between 8 am to 8 pm EST. They will be better able to assist you.

Q: Your answer if direct drive was "it is offered w/direct drive motor". Does that mean a definite "yes" or an option?

A: With Whirlpool, if the lid goes to the edge it is a direct drive, if it is recessed it is belt driven.

Q: what are the terms of the manufacturers warranty ?

A: Hi Cruz, please click on the link below to view the warranty terms and conditions. Thank you for your inquiry regarding our Whirlpool appliances! http://bit.ly/2lWZfsm

Q: What is a built in faucet? Do I need special plumbing or hoses?

A: The interior faucet that gives you easy access to an instant water stream to remove loose soils. You do not need an extra water connection.
