      Great 1440P card

I bought this card as an upgrade from my ASUS Fury. As good as the Fury cards were, they were limited by their 4GB HBM Vram. I needed more Vram for 1440p and 4K and I wanted to stick with Radeon to utilize my Freesync monitor. The only option was going Vega so I chose this XFX Vega 56 8GB. I am very satisfied with this card and it is very powerful. My friend has a GTX 1070 and this card competes well and often beats it. I think Vega will mature better in the long run vs Nvidia current line up as well. The only thing I can knock this card for is the relatively high power usage compared to a competing equivalent but it isn't that much higher. The core clock tends to fluctuate quite a bit as well and I rarely see it lock in to the advertised speed. It hovers between 1440 - 1500 most often, instead of 1590Mhz. Not sure if this is something on my end or by design but the card hasn't let me down yet in practice and gaming. Defective unit, only owned the unit for about 10 days. I'm not a miner, I primarily used this card for gaming. The first day with this card, I was already having issues. When the card would start drawing in power, the fans would go up (normal) , but then there was this whining noise which was unbearable. The second issue I had with the card was that it was very bad for gaming, I owned an RX-580 prior to this and I would say it almost ran worse at times. I would try to play a game (ie. Fortnite / Call of Duty) and the frame rates would suffer and was unstable around 40fps. The only way to make it stable was to turn on freesync. I was testing it without freesync to push the card , had I had a regular monitor I'm pretty sure it would've done the same. This card was just overall terrible and I would never decide to go with XFX Vega lineup again; their XFX RX-580 I owned worked like a charm compared to this junk of a graphics card.

      Do not buy

I was pumped when I saw these pop up for sale, waited with baited breath for them to arrive and the genuine excitement of popping in 2x of these cards washed over me in an awesome wave. Then reality set in - Hyinx memory, unable to flash bios and they're the hottest-running cards I'd ever seen. The 56 can be a beast but stay well-clear of these. To Best Buy's credit they did accept the return no questions asked. Since then I scored a couple 1080TI and couldn't be happier. They'll be underwater in about 2 weeks!

      Vega 56

Card runs hot all the time. Performance is slightly better than a AMD 580. Personally, I don't think that the performance is worth the price. Additionally, VEGA 56 tend to be very temperamental and unstable at normal settings, so don't think that you can overclock it to get better performance.

Thermal HotSpot Temp can exceed 100c. Horrible for mining even with undervolting. Fans are cheap, difficultly in getting them to spin up to max speed. Fine for gaming but if you monitor all your temps you will see this card gets ridiculously hot,I have seen temps as high as 115c before shutting them down.

      Overall good gaming card.

I've been able to play my PC games in 4k without any issues with this card. Destiny 2, Wolfenstein, Overwatch. Just solid FPS. My only complaint is the higher GPU prices at the moment, but that's all graphics cards, not just this model.

XFX always mad great GPU's previous but went through 4 of these. 3 of them didn't work at all or shutdown shortly after coming on and the last one was bent in half and actually did work. Never will I look at the XFX brand when shopping
