A: Dee, this is a one-at-a-time (single disc) CD player. Sounds like you're in need of a carousel player. Yamaha makes a carousel (5 disc) player version (model # CDC600BL) which currently costs $29 more and I believe to utilize the same D/A converter and properties that should yield the same high sound quality you'd expect from Yamaha (see my review of the CD-S300BL).

A: YES, you can play your iPhone, iPad, or iPod through this device! It has a USB input on the front of the unit. You will need a Lightning to USB cable... then it will play through your stereo just like a CD. I use mine for this all the time with great sound quality!
