A: It is both. There is a switch to select the type of line service available. The switch is for TT (touch tone) or DP (Dial Pulse). I think Dial Pulse is for a line that accepts rotary dialing only, if such a thing still exists. I have an old rotary phone and it works on a modern line.

Good backup phone
This is a good value for what I needed it for. It is primarily a backup phone for when the power goes out. It has the necessary features that I need. The only negatives are that the lighted dial is barely visible in the dark and it is very lightweight for a desk model. I still have an original ATT princess phone, and guess I'm used to the old quality of things..like the weight of the phone, the lighted dial and the old ringer that can be easily recognized.

Great cheap phone
To save cell phone minutes and cost, I use this phone while living at home (my parents have unlimited long-distance plan). This phone is so easy to program numbers I call often, and the re-dial is a great feature when my girlfriend's cell phone cuts out and drops our call. Low price and no usage contracts lets me save money.

very convenient
ordered this phone for my bedroom. the tone is loud and the ringer works great, for the price , its effecient, and streamlined, so it doesnt take up too much room on my dresser. very satisfied.
