Good for targeted spots but not for whole face
I have an old "mask" light therapy system that I've used on and off over the last few years. I never was really sure it helped my skin, but it didn't hurt. What I hated about it was the built in goggles. I didn't feel like it protected my eyes enough and that worried me. This hand-held light therapy device includes separate goggles which seem to provide better protection than the mask. Unlike the mask, the device can be positioned where you like (targeted spots). That being said, if you try to do your entire face with this thing you're going to have arm fatigue. Holding something still -the instructions say to NOT move it around - gets really tedious. If you can adjust it to fix it in a spot without it touching your skin, you're good to go. The package itself includes a charger but I used it with batteries - no problem. If you're looking to do your entire face in one sitting, this might not be the solution for you; but if you want something you can aim at your neck or a spot on your face it's a good solution.

It depends on its price, and your personal factors
Under the best case scenario, you find this item on sale. From there is where I would start reviewing the item. This may help in spots to get blood circulation flowing, which could help with helping take care of pimples. As of right now, I cannot comment if has made a positive difference for anti-aging. What I think is the most important thing to consider is that the area that this covers on your skin is not that big. So if you do feel like it has a positive effect, and would like to use it all over your face area, it becomes a bit of work. If you just need it for small spots in a 2" x 1.5" area, then this will do the trick. Probably requires you to hold it really close to your skin for more than the 3 minute minimum that it recommends. Batteries probably aren't way to use it, so now you have to have plugged into a wall jack nearby.

Time consuming
I like the idea of this product which is why I purchased it in the first place, but once I got it home and opened up and read the instructions I was disappointed. It is a very time consuming process and a little dangerous. Must protect your eyes from infrared light.
