A: Hi Rocky - Thanks for your interest! While "special" cooktop is not required, flat bottom pans are essential for good cooking performance since the bottom of the pan needs to touch the glass for the best heat transfer. Stainless Steel and Aluminum are recommended. Check out the following link - RANGE - COOKWARE USED ON A RADIANT SMOOTH GLASS COOKTOP: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=16259 - Keeping your range looking new is easy if you watch this quick use and care video. From selecting the best cleaners, proper maintenance practices, to identifying the proper cookware this video will show you all you need to know about enjoying your new range. Sometimes marks may appear on the glass ceramic that seem to be scratches, but are really just marks from a pan and are able to be removed by cleaning. The glass ceramic cooktops are scratch resistant, yet not scratch proof. Check the bottoms of the pans that you use for any rough spots or burned food pieces. Again, the bottoms of the pans should be a "smooth" flat surface. You should be pleased with your choice! Sue
Q: Location of outlet on wall behind range
A: Hey there! When viewing the range from the back, the plug location will be on the lower right side. The outlet location should be no higher than 6 ½ inches off the ground. If we can answer any additional questions, please let us know. Have a wonderful day. -Gina@GEA
A: Hi mde65 - Thanks for reaching out to us and for choosing GE Model # JB625DKWW. We are happy to help. Ovens with a visible bottom bake element generally take 5-10 minutes to preheat. Selected temperature (every 25 degree increment above 350 set temperature will add approximately 45-60 seconds to preheat time. 208 Volt installation (vs 240V) will increase pre-heat time by 25%. If the oven is taking much longer than normal to preheat, first, turn off the circuit breaker for the range, wait 30 seconds, and turn it back on. This makes sure that it is not getting half power. If it was newly installed, then we recommend having the installer check the power cord to make sure it was wired to the range properly. See OVEN PREHEAT TIME TOO LONG: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=16540 - A technician may be required for an accurate diagnosis. To schedule service online visit: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm - We're glad to have you in the family and hope this is helpful. Keep in touch! Sue
A: Hi Fredinflorida- Recipes can differ, as can a food's preheat requirements. Most foods we tested don't require additional oven heating, though there are always exceptions. For precise temps for baking, allow the oven to fully preheat. Electric ovens with a visible bottom bake element can take 5-10 minutes to fully preheat. Keep in touch! Sue
Q: Is the stainless steel finger proof?
A: Hi James- The stainless steel finish is not fingerprint resistant. GE Appliances has a variety of fingerprint resistant finishes that hide fingerprints and smudges. Take a look at Fingerprint Resistant Finishes: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=37044 - Keep in touch! SUE@GEA
