I just got my hands on the new HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless headset, and I have to say, opening the box was pretty exciting. The packaging looks clean and professional, with the HyperX logo standing out. Inside, everything was neatly packed: the headset, a soft carrying pouch, the detachable mic, a USB-C cable for charging, and that cool RGB base station that doubles as the wireless dongle and a hub with controls. There was also a quick-start guide and some warranty info, nothing fancy, but it all felt high-quality and ready to go right away. Hooking it up was super easy, which I really appreciated. On my PC, I plugged the base station into a USB port, and the headset connected automatically over 2.4GHz, with no drivers needed for basic use. I did download the HyperX NGENUITY app later to tweak settings, and it updated the firmware quickly. For my PlayStation 5, I just paired it via Bluetooth while using the base station for game audio, and it worked flawlessly with no noticeable lag. The dual connectivity option is handy, and switching between devices felt seamless. Now, onto actually playing with them. I've tested them in a few games so far. First, on PC with Arc Raiders. The sound was spot-on; I could hear distant footsteps and environmental noises clearly, which helped me stay aware of threats. The 53mm drivers gave great directional audio, making it easier to track enemies. Then I jumped into PUBG on PC the next day. In those intense battles, the bass seemed to hit pretty hard on explosions, and gunfire sounded crisp. My teammates said I came through clear on the mic, even with some background noise. The AI noise reduction worked well. Comfort was solid too. I played for hours without my ears getting sore, thanks to the memory foam pads which I think I like slightly better than my Corsair HS80’s. Finally, on tested them on my PS5 playing the new Battlefield 6. The wireless setup let me move around freely during big matches. Audio seemed to sync perfectly, with no delay on vehicle sounds or chatter. The battery life is insane! Even after long sessions, it barely drained, living up to the 250-hour claim. Still haven’t had to charge them yet. Compared to my previous Corsair HS80’s, the HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 feels like a noticeable upgrade in a few key areas. The battery life on the Alpha 2 is on a whole other level. The HS80, I'd often have to plug it in every couple of days since it only lasted around 20 hours per charge. Sound-wise, the directional audio and spatial cues in games like Arc Raiders and Battlefield feel more precise and immersive on the HyperX, with better separation in the mids and highs. Comfort is similar between the two, and both are great for long sessions, but the Alpha 2's lighter build and softer pads edge it out slightly for me, especially as they don't clamp as tightly. The HS80 has a fantastic broadcast-quality mic that's hard to beat for clarity in voice chat, but the Alpha 2's detachable mic with noise reduction holds its own pretty well. The base station on the HyperX adds handy controls and dual connectivity, which the HS80's simpler dongle doesn't match. Pros: • Incredible 250 hour battery life. • Excellent sound quality for gaming, with strong spatial audio and balanced profile. • Very comfortable for long playtime, lightweight with good padding. • Versatile connectivity (2.4GHz, Bluetooth, dual mode) across PC and PS5. • Solid build and handy base station controls. Cons: • Ear cups can get a little warm after extended use, especially in a hotter room. • The HyperX NGENUITY app had a couple of minor glitches for me, like slow EQ changes, but nothing major. Overall, I've been really impressed with the HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless so far. It's quickly replaced my Corsair HS80 as my go-to headset. It's become my favorite for gaming sessions. I'd give it 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it if you're looking for top-tier wireless audio, comfort, and that insane battery life. Hope this helps when investing in a new gaming headset.

These headphones are so good that before I go into the review I’m going to say If you’re in the market for over the ear headset (not just gaming) buy the Cloud Alpha 2. The Alpha 2 have the best battery life on the market and are one of the most comfortable headsets out there. What makes them worth buying. Sound: The sound from this headset is amazing, you hear all the details regardless if you’re watching movie/gaming or listening to music. The high’s and mid’s sound very rich and you will hear things in your music that you haven’t heard before. The lows are nice, while not eardrum rattling, it’s the perfect amount so you’re not ruining your eardrum. Comfort: The Alpha 2’s are one of the most comfortable headsets I have ever used. The ear cups are big enough to fit all ears sizes and the microfiber earpads feel amazing, what makes the earpads even better is they can be replaced. I used the headset for work and play, 12 hours, and had no ear fatigue and the microfiber is super breathable so no sweating. The headband uses memory foam and is comfortable although im not sure how well it will wear overtime. There is no ANC, however the way they fit your ears makes it impossible to hear anything around you if you have something playing. For those worried about their surroundings there is a passthrough mode which allow outside sounds to come in if you want. Mics: There are 2 sets of mics for the Cloud Alpha 2’s , the boom mic and the other set which is built into the headset itself. The built-in mics do a excellent job for phone calls and the person on the other side had no issue hearing me. Having the built-in mics is great this way you can use the headset for more than just gaming. The boom mic does make a difference compared to the normal mics, it reduced the amount of ambient noise and there was less fluctuation in my voice while gaming. Battery: The battery life on these is amazing, I used them for 7.5 hours on Bluetooth and only lost 2% battery. When using dual mode and having Bluetooth and the base station connected I lost battery at about 1% an hour. What makes the battery portion even better is that it is changeable, I didn’t see this coming as no companies do this anymore. If your battery ever does get damaged or doesn’t hold a charge you can replace it easily. Base station : The included dock works well, simple to use and is great for all PC gamers. It allows you to reduce gaming volume or increase mic volume with a simple twist. The buttons on the dock have a nice feel and can be customized through the software. One of the best things about the base station is it allows you to control the volume of the game independently from your phone, if you get a phone call while connected in dual mode the base station will control all setting for the game while your phones volume is controlled through your phone. What could be better. Base station: While the dock is nice for PC gaming its tough for console gaming as its not wireless, if you do decide to use it for console gaming you will have wires running everywhere. The mute button on the base station isn’t a button, its more like a screen that you tap. Buttons on the headset: The buttons are too flush and its hard to know where they are by just feeling, some texture should have been added to them to make them easier to identify. Software: The Ngenuity software is still in beta and it only works on windows. While there are a few issues with the Cloud Alpha 2 they are still one of, if not the best, headsets on the market.

The HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless Gaming Headset package comprises two main components: the headset itself and the dedicated interface base. The headset is a premium feeling, solidly built wireless unit designed for durability and long-term comfort. • The hinges connecting the earcups to the headband are made of metal, ensuring they can withstand the repeated stress of pivoting and twisting during use. • The earcup padding is a felt-like material, not traditional pleather. This fabric creates a soft seal, is breathable, and prevents sweat build-up during long gaming sessions. • Despite the soft material, the noise isolation is impressive, allowing the drivers to produce clear, high-quality sound without ambient noise interference. This effective passive isolation eliminates the need for potentially sound-distorting active noise-cancelling circuitry. • Due to the substantial use of metal, it is not an ultra-lightweight headset, but the ample padding on both the headband and earcups maintains high comfort levels for extended wear. • Sound quality during gaming is described as extremely clear and precise, enhancing player awareness and confidence. • The microphone sound quality is clear and "bright" according to others. It is highly flexible and maneuverable, and conveniently detachable when not needed. • A valuable feature is the ability to connect to your sound source via a wire, giving it broad compatibility beyond its wireless capabilities. The second component is the dedicated interface base, which serves as a powerful control hub. • The base's main features work effectively, with the large, round knob for volume control being a significant quality-of-life improvement over standard PC or keyboard controls. LEDs clearly indicate the current volume level. • A large, touch-sensitive button provides an excellent, quick method to mute the microphone. • The base includes six large buttons for on-the-fly adjustments. The most frequently used controls are typically mic gain, mute, and play/pause. Pressing one of these buttons allows you to use the large spinning knob to adjust the corresponding setting. • To fully unlock and remap the six buttons to custom keyboard keys, the NGenuity Beta app is required. While the base is highly functional, it currently feels like it lacks some quality-of-life or deeper customization options. Since the NGenuity app is still in beta, it is possible that more features will be added in future updates. Overall, the HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 package performs well above competitors in sound quality, premium feel, and overall usability. The ability to simultaneously connect to a computer and a Bluetooth device is a particularly useful multitasking feature. The one missing element is a surround-aware mode, the ability to temporarily hear your physical surroundings while gaming. This is a desirable feature that could hopefully be added via a future firmware update. If you have the budget for a premium wireless headset paired with an external interface that places crucial controls instantly at your command, the HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 is an excellent choice.
