    Really great traveling laptop

This laptop sets-up pretty easily and quickly, it’s really just plug and go. It looks really nice and solid and doesn’t look or feel cheap at all. This is exactly what I was looking for when I realized that I would need to get a new one. I like Dell anyway because I think the quality is good. It’s 14 inches, weighs under 4 pounds so it’s very lightweight and it’s nice and thin. I needed another laptop that was easy to travel with and yet still give me access to all the programs I use on my primary laptop. Plus the fact that it is touchscreen makes it convenient to navigate without having to bring a mouse. It comes with 1 regular USB on both sides of the laptop, an audio jack on one side. The other side has an HDMI slot, 2 C-slots and the 2nd regular USB slot. There are no slots on the back side. These work well for my needs when I'm on the road. The only thing that would make it better is if it also had a sd card reader. I wouldn’t want this to be my primary laptop but works great for my on the go needs. It was so quick and easy to transfer info from the older traveling laptop to this one. And this one has lots of space as I was running out of space on my current traveling one and had to keep moving items to an sd-card. So it took me time to find that perfect one with good speed, where there wasn’t a big delay, especially when working on videos and presentations. The sound, microphone, picture, camera use with virtual meetings and videos all work great and as expected! A wonderful plus is the battery life! I was able to use it two full days while traveling without it needing a charge and it works just as well the whole time. I think it’s a great quality laptop and would recommend it. Also, the screen tilts way back, that’s not really of help to me but might be for others. At first, I wasn’t a fan of signing in with my Microsoft account but looks like that is how laptops work these days. I’ve really come to like that though. I realized it makes life so much easier and quicker to access everything I need by syncing everything. And then I signed into the Google account to sync everything else. These do save a lot of time especially since it’s replacing my other traveling laptop. Once this was set-up it was like a replica of the one I was using but faster, lighter weight and with lots of space. Oh, almost forgot, the AI feature is nice to have as well. I’m still learning more about it so it’s not making a huge difference for me yet but others might love it.

Reliable laptop but no more privacy shutter

Dell is a trusted brand and I am a big fan of their products. I've been using my current Dell Inspiron (14" screen) for over six years and it's still working pretty well today. However I noticed that the battery was draining really fast, even in the sleep mode, so I knew it was time to get a new laptop. To my surprise, the setup for Dell 14S took over two hours. I know a lot of it was Windows updates but I thought that was too long. The touchscreen is one of my favorite features of this laptop. I had it in my old Inspiron and once you have it, you can never go back. I like the smaller profile of 14" screen, as it won't take up too much space on my desk (it gets hooked up to my Dell 24" monitor anyway). I also like that it's lightweight (3.33 lbs.) and thin (1/2 inch closed). I use a wireless mouse (another Dell product!) but for those who prefer to use the touchpad, it's quite large at 5 x 3-1/8" (much larger than my old Inspiron). This laptop is installed with the latest AMD Ryzen processor (7400 series), which is more than enough to handle my day-to-day tasks. Regarding AMD, I kept seeing an alert on the AMD icon that it required an update, so I clicked on the icon and agreed to download it, but it kept displaying the same message over and over. After a quick online search, I learned that I needed a new AMD package installed, so just a heads-up. Aside from a minor AMD hiccup, I still like my new Dell 14S and it has been working well for my needs. There are two reasons why I didn't give a 5-star rating: a) no more physical privacy shutter over the camera lense. I really liked this feature on my old Inspiron. b) just like the USB-A ports, the USB-C ports should have been available on both sides.

    Solid notebook for average need.

Review of Dell - 14" 2K OLED Touchscreen Laptop - AMD Ryzen AI 7 445 2026 - 16GB Memory - 512GB Storage - Copilot+ PC - Celestial Blue First some of the configuration of the notebook to remark: - AMD Risen AI 7 445 w/ Radeon 840M (2.00GHz) - Installed RAM 16.9 GB (15.2GB) - Graphic Card: AMD Radeon(TM) 840M Graphics (512MB) - Pen and Touch: Touch Support with 10 Touch Points - WiFi Adapter: MediaTek Wi-Fi 7 MT7925 Wireless LAN Card —Tri-Band Support: Operates across the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz spectrums. —Maximum Speed: Capable of up to 2.8 Gbps to 5.4 Gbps combined throughput. —Channel Width: Caps out at a 160MHz channel width. —Bluetooth Version: Includes Bluetooth 5.4 for ultra-low latency audio and accessory pairing - Battery: it is from manufacturer BYD, 3-Cells Battery, 70 Wh, the notebook allows to keep working around 18 hours from the full charge in the context of using ii on editing and writing documents while listening online streaming music. - Power Adapter: The notebook comes with Power 65W Type-C Adapter - Display: 14-inch, Touch, FHD+, 400nits, 45% NTSC, ComfortView - Weight (Touch screen-FHD OLED) starting from: 1.51 kg (3.33 lb) - Ports ⁃ 2 USB4 (40 Gbps) ports with Power Delivery and DisplayPort™ 2.1 ⁃ 2 USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) ports ⁃ 1 HDMI 2.1 port ⁃ 1 Global headset port - Camera: 1080p at 30 fps FHD RGB-IR camera, Dual-array microphones, Presence Detection The specification indicate per itself that the Dell 14S Laptop is packed with close to most advanced H/W and Drivers. It is not the latest or the most powerful configuration but more than enough for every day document review and entertainment in between. Watching Movie or Listening Music, In this sense, watching movie of HD version of movies have good video quality paired with the Dolby Atmos or Windows Sonic for Headphones and Speaker, either option feels real for what is. Specifically in case of movie to remark, the sound does feel coming from the display side, left/center/right and surrounding effect. Apart of the display quality and sound, and its ease of using is standard as it is based on Microsoft Windows experience. Then on its capabilities for processing AI work in local, using the standard measurement run by Geekbench, following benchmarks were measured at the time of the review: - AI Framework = ONNX - AI Backend = Direct ML - Single Precision Score: 3572 - Half Precision Score: 4303 - Quantized Score: 3362 - AI Backend = CPU - Single Precision Score: 1555 - Half Precision Score: 905 - Quantized Score: 3472 According to research on reference to the score, and for the configuration, it might result somewhat faster than the benchmark, but at least these scores give an idea of how much can be done. What I wish it ware better: - H/W version to cover the camera. It is based on the application used for the video call. - USB-C port were in both side. It has only on the left side. - Light enough to hold with one hand. It is a bit heavy carrying it with the display fully opened. - On this not sure if it is exclusive to Microsoft Window or how Dell has integrated H/W and OS. The Taskbar at bottom, having applications opened, as it list the icons of applications opened, and if attempt to open the control from quick settings panel for Wi-FI, Volume, Bluetooth, etc; it is hard to locate and expand. Need to go through multiple clicks or wait about a min until show up. - Typing: as type, it is not really smooth as one would hoped. As typing can feel underneath hardware bouncing hard. To finish, the DELL 14S feel solid and offer a bit more than needed hardware configuration for average need.

A very decent laptop for general use

The school year is about to begin and most of us are scouting for new laptops either for ourselves or our kids. Here comes the Dell 14S or specifically the Dell DS4265. There are two variants of the Dell 14S one is the Ryzen 5 variant and the other is the Ryzen 7 variant. This review will focus on the Ryzen 7 variant. As already mentioned, this model has the Ryzen AI 7 chip which competes directly with Intel’s Ultra Core 7 chip. While these two have totally different architecture, in real word use or should I say ordinary day-to-day home or office use, these two chips would perform generally the same. And being the 7th generation or variant, these would be more on the performance side. This laptop has a 14-inch screen and is labelled as 2K which for those not familiar is really FHD or 1920 x 1080p. While the screen is only 2K, it is an OLED display making the display sharp and crisp. Also, it has touch screen functionality, but it does not unfortunately convert into tablet form. Personally, this is a downer for me, but each individual has his own use case. So, I will leave it at that. Like most premium laptops, the Dell 14S has 16GB of RAM. Looking for a laptop with 32GB would be hard pressed since the price of RAM has skyrocketed due to the AI surge. The same can also be said about the included SSD in this model, But having a 512MB SSD is more than sufficient for most cases. As for the aesthetics of this laptop, it is a thin laptop which in essence competes to another laptop that has the name of a fruit for its brand. And it comes in obsidian blue. And like most thin profile laptops, ports are minimal. On the left side of the laptop you can find an HDMI port, a USB port and USB C ports which also acts as charging ports. On the left side of the laptop, you can find another USB port and 3.5mm jack. Truth be told, the volume of this laptop is pretty much sufficient as it has a deep volume. Of course it will not match the sound quality of dedicated speakers but for a laptop, the sound coming out is pretty rich. Also, it helps that the speakers are Atmos enabled. The features of this laptop are pretty good but I really wouldn’t this is something spectacular. But rather its specs are what you would expect from a laptop of this price range. That said I will still recommend this laptop.
